So patrick --are you messin with custom art pics of my truck??
The classic colors are burgendy with--a graphite beltline stripe swooshing down into the grill- with just the center "waterfall strip" in the middle chromed- the fenders should be burgendy too--but some like them matching the stripe. oh and edit the Dago out of the pic!

I mess with photoshop a bit at work, but when it comes to my own stuff, it's paints & pencils all the way!!!

I spent 2 weeks water sanding this cab in between clearcoats. it was my last year of highschool and I was on a Co-op from the autobody shop class. It was done in London Ontario at a place on Oxford East, called "4x4 and More"(which is now a Macco) There was no glass in it at the time, but all the glorious wood inside was done as was the lettering and stripes. I never saw the trailer until it was all finished and on display at the Western Fair in London. Very Kool ol' truck!

You helped restore the 1947 labotts brewery custom cabbed white tractor? Thats badass--The guy who designed it was some famous designer--Duke something or other its a very famous truck

Count Alexis De Sakhnoffsky (1901 - 1964) was one of the prominent industrial designers and illustrators of the 'Streamline design' period. His****ociation with White Motor Company led to creation of numerous truck designs. Some of them were implemented in real life while other remained as drawings. The most well-known streamlined trucks designs by de Sakhnoffsky were manufactured for Canadian Labatt's brewery on the basis of White trucks.

  6. I helped restore the truck pictured above(on display in front of the Western Fair BTW) in the smallest way possible. I was only there for 2 weeks, so sanding clearcoats was the only action I saw on this truck. There was some scafolding involved that allowed me to sand and the painter to reach the top of the cab - quite a challenge for a youngster who had only worked on cars until this point. Labatt's brewery is a prominent fixture in London, with the factory still running right downtown. I believe the Labatt's Mansion is still there at the north edge of town too, although when it was built it would have been well out in the country.
I have worked on a bunch of cars in the last 30 years, but none have been cooler than this truck was so early in my life. I was honored that they even let a 17 year old punk anywhere near it! LOL!

I like the pictured Ford C series the best. In building one, what would make a good powertrain? Detroit 8.1? Cat 3208? For my purposes I would keep the original frame and suspension.

The 3208 would be nice but they're pretty pricey to rebuild. If you can find a good one it would move the truck down the road better than the 8.2.A 3208 "natural" (non turbocharged) puts out around 220 hp, while th4 8.2 needs a turbo to reach that. The 3208 has more torque as well. Its a heavy*******, weighs around 1500 lbs. Forgot what the 8.2 weighs.

At least it's low miles and from California, that makes all the difference. :D

So what are your plans for the build?

They were built with 3208s, that would be my choice too. I like their sound.

Are you heading to Regina for the car show & swap meet this weekend? I'm hauling a trailer-load of stuff out for the swap meet.

This was just sent to me in an email, it lives in Iceland is the owner is trying to restore it, he found my CarDomain page on my 46 ford bus and asked if I could help him identify it! (40-47 Ford COE) How cool is that bus!

All of them are except the 53 Ford was already sold when I took the photo, and the 56 Mercury is mine, but I am open to offers (no rust, no windshield and rear window, runs and drives with a 332 lincoln)

The Blastoline boys aren't too terribly far from me.
Once I get my Lo-Ball Express done, I'm gonna drive on over and visit with them.

Interesting stuff comes outta their shop!
