    Well, jeeze.....I don't know why you'd
    even consider anything else anyway???
A SOHC 427 Ford would be the perfect
    engine for a ramp truck.....wouldn't
it???!!! (Big Grin!):D The only thing I'd
change, is to move the engine a couple
of feet further back, so that it'd be
completely out from under the cab, for
better access ...which would then, also
necessitate the use of a transaxle of
some sort (from a Pantera maybe??)
    and I.R.S.!!!

    Mart3406
    ---------------------
P.S. Are those '59 Corvette tailights in
the rear fenders??? (Unlike the 427
Cammer and my 'Pantera transaxle and
I.R.S' idea, at least the 'Vette tailights
    would be economically feasible! LOL)

I thank you sir. i have a build thread in the c.o.e. group. the engine i'm using is a 327 that i've had in numerous builds and has been rebuild twice by the same guy. it unexpectedly returned to me last fall. with the aluminum heads about 375 horse. should pull this old ford. i won't hold it against you putting a ford in a ford. LOL

Mart, Yeah, that would work, but since the back end is going to tilt why not the front too? As for the Cammer, I'd giver most anything to have one, then I could put it in my '51 F1.

The 327 is pretty cool though, for a Chevy. Pex I'm gonna go search for your build. Is it here on the HAMB?
As for a "Ford in a Ford", the project F1 I just bought has a 350 in it. Until I can swap in a Y-block I'll just keep the hood closed and lie like a dog. :D

I just read the Hemmings article and
discovered that the current owner, Geoff
Hacker is here on the HAMB! :)

Here's some more more pics from a
'Car & Driver' magazine article from
'back in day' that Geoff posted to a
HAMB thread on the passing of previous
    'Cheetah Transporter' owner, Dave Deal.
    Note the built, triple-carbed "300-inch.
    300-plus hp '57 Corvette" engine!

Are you talking about Dave Deal the cartoonist, as in "Deals Wheels"?

This one drives past my house all the time, it's near impossible for me to get a shot because it's always moving, but I finally did the other day!

I like the chop. If I did not have 3 other projects waiting in the wings, I'd take 3 inches out of mine. Can you post a larger picture of the last pic?

I have picture of my cousin driving a Mercury in that color during harvest in the late 50's. Doubt it is the sane truck, their farm is in south western Sask.

  17. Saw this one in Albuquerque on Sarurday evening.....

He was at the same show I was at sunday. It is a 39 Chevy, with a Buick 350/200R4 under the bed in back. Real nice truck. i don;t have any other pictures. He just got it running recently.

Can you post the picture, it could be the same truck, I'm in Alberta near Edmonton so it's not a stretch to have come this far, plus the guy I got it from could have brought it in from sask. I'd like to see if yours has the door logos like mine (there are several layered on top of each other)

  20. Cool!..some more info! We really just got a quick look at it, but we're keeping our eyes peeled for cool stuff while we're on vacation. Did see a Marlin on a trailer in west TX, and at the NM welcome center.

With the reduction in size at the bottom bend, that would also increase flow pressure, like a ramjet. You could make one cheaply like this one, then once you got any flow issues worked out, make one out of something more durable.

Which also means that bugs will enter the dryer pipe at 65 MPH and exit in to the sleeper at 105 MPH, LOL!
