The 41 COE schoolbus is in Great Falls. This one below is in Kenmore Washington, owner is moving soon and it needs a new home. Its a 1952 Gertenslager bodied GMC COE Bookmobile

it was a good day for a drive, other than the rain on the way up. 50 miles each way, sometimes running as fast as 40mph (down hill with the wind to my back)

I'm not sure about restoration because I've just gotten my '48 Chevy COE running and driving so well and about to start on the bed. But I will definitely need to find a grille/hood for the '41 because of the homemade grille shown in this pick:eek:

I will be getting this one running, then fix the broken windows and decide on restoration versus driver after that. It definitely WILL NOT be getting a chassis swap, that just isn't my style, especially not on a pre-war Marmon Herrington

The owner thinks his dad bought it from the Oregon Department of Transportation in the 1960s, he had other equipment on the homestead that Dad had bought @ ODOT auctions.

WOW!, How much trouble would it be to start a Thread of Vintage COE photos. They are too "COOL"!

Anybody know who built this trailer? Give the tractor and cars I would say it has to have been built in early 40's? Sure would like to have one!

5 window cab, custom fenders, tire sanders, air brakes, that truck is a showpiece all by itself but I'd like to see the trailer it pulled.

Those fenders are very cool, I really like the wide whites and the full wheel covers, very sharp! (I'd love 20" WW's like those for my bus!)

  28. I also think that is a killer paint scheme for the AD COE's
