I had another thought. If you are going with the "Cobra Stripes", you might consider removing the lower trim and closing up the "snout" openings as I did in the photoshopped image below. Considering the presence of the stripes, I think cleaning up the bottom center of the hood looks better. The stripes are not competing with the original hood trim. Good Luck!

Thanks for the photoshop and the ideas! My truck does have the trim removed, and it had better be good skill, than good luck! I am also collecting parts and ideas on my other COE's.

Well other then my Merc, would you go for anything else COE?

Jerry's car care out near me has 7 or 8 different kinds of them and he is a cool guy and easy to deal with IMHO, I got my 56 Mercury COE from him in trade for a 54 Merc wagon I got off of another friend.

For sure, what does he have? I still think you should let me have the Merc, you have way too many other projects to work on. :D

IIRC and these years are approximates so you know the style, he has a 46 Dodge, 53 Ford, a chopped and sectioned 51 IHC, an early 50's Karrier, a 39 Chev with no hood... I'm drawing a blank but I think there are a few more, and he always seems to know of more.

Wow, these are some really great looking trucks.

  26. Has anyone who reads or posts on this thread know anything about these 1936 GMC show trucks?

For anyone who is also on Facebook, there is now a group called Cabover Cult with COE nuts from around the world.

    Hi Folks,
a guy over on the FTE who is interested in the COE cab trucks pointed me to this thread because he thought I might be interested. WOW!!! After going through 127 pages I'm just about surfed out. Of course there was so much quoting that I saw the same trucks at least 5 times each. However, I did enjoy looking at them. I have been trying to look at as many ideas out there as I can which sometimes helps me pick up on ideas about what I want to do. So far I have a basic plan but looking at what others have done sort of helps me fill in the blanks. I bought my '54 Ford C-800 COE cab in December 2011 and got it home the Saturday before Christmas. Now I have it in the shop and stripped down. If anyone is interested they can take a look at a thread I started over on another board I run which is http://darksidersrealm.forumotion.com/t433-another-coe-project. We specialize in build threads over there.

It has been so long since I was on the HAMB that I could not remember my username and password. I did finally manage to guess my way through it and now here I am. I will be keeping an eye on this thread to see if any more new ideas show up.

I found a good set of doors for my cab but I am looking for a decent hood as mine is going to take a lot of work to fix due to rust on the bottom front lip. To make matters worse, someone has already did a hack job on it to patch it up.
Thanks for all the pictures... Below is a picture of my cab when I got it home.

    Later Folks...

Hey Man... Big surprise, it seems I already am a member. I knew I joined one of these groups someplace. You will have to excuse my Old Timers disease. I'm OK now... I think...
