I bet the seat was just thrown on to move it around... Someone who has the 'eye' is calling the shots on that one. By far the best COE build yet.

also he sold some of my others for me
more than likely can help every one looking for a coe,and possibly parts so you would have to look up shades of paint willmar mn on the old fashioned phone system

A 3208 sounds a lot like a Powerstroke. Or vice versa.

I suppose you could say that but then that thing will most likely be set up so differenty it is bound to have a note of its own.

Called Larry at Ladd's Porting out front. He said the chassis is gone but they're still working on the body. Don't know when I can get there, but will try.

same photos as last week, any new ones, feel like ruminating
3208's do have real nice sound as the v configuration makes them a high rpm endless rev motor.
have one turned up in a 56,000 mile extra long top kick chassis that we are putting a mint Nebrasaka 1958 cab forward crew body on next fall.
my uncle had one in his shed when he sold out his Jacobon transport Wheaton mn company in early 80,s for miilions,he gave it to me and a transmission and rear end all NOS.
my first experience with 3208 was in a brand new 1978 Ih eagle conventional driving for smith trucking willmar mn cross country

ok so I have a question... I see alot of builders in this thread doing midengine...
    I have a 94 longbed extra cab dodge w/5.9****mins and 400 as a donor,

what's a minimum driveshaft length I should look at with a hefty midengine ? I plan on running a 4 link style bagged factory dually axle on the rear end ...

    thanks fellas:)

what are you thinking for a frame? modding the dodge? I run a****mins in a stock dodge frame, and it works fine up front, but it would depend on the cab room you want too. what is the cab?

I'm not sure on the frame yet. may go ahead and make one. not planning on running any super huge loads on this thing, just a cruiser. as far as the cab, I really dig the late 50's gmc stuff. prolly just standard cab (not going to make it a super cab or anything) stake and rail flatbed out back. heres a pic of what im lookin to use for a cab

although I have seen a 'bigger' version of this cab that has hinged front fenders and wider front flares (prolly a 'wider' frame and heavier vehicle)

    Fonzy,
All the GMC trucks form the 55-59 era like you want have the hinged fenders. The chevys have regular fender and hood. The fender flares are not part of the fender and bolt on. The flares are one piece and the Chevy has part of the flare on thecab and part on the fender. There were several different width flares depending on the size of the truck. These trucks are called "Low Cab Forward" but most people call them cab over.

ooooh I see that now! ok so chevys are kinda the light duty version and the gmc has all the cool hinges n such:) so yeah definitely going for a gmc. and in doing some more looking around I think I will skip the midengine with this cab. think I will roll this dodge frame and configuration as-is since it will easilly fit up under the gmc cab.

thanks for all the help fellas! now I just gotta find a late 50's gmc cab and all that is left is everything:)

I do not believe there is really any difference in the chevy and gmc. They are the same "duty" trucks but GMC is more utilitarian and easier to work on with the hinged fenders. GMC came with a 6 cy or V8 and the chevys all had V8s. I am made my front clip tilt forward to access the engine on my 57. My engine ended up completely under the cab. Here is a link to my webshots.

    Hey buggy5872;
I just looked at your photos of the 57 LCF project. Wow! That really looks nice. Keep up the good work. What kind of bed will you have out back?

I have a 59 fleetside bed that I am going to use. I am going to use stepside fenders to make it a dually bed. it will be an interesting part of the project because the top portion of the bedsides above the factory seam (about 11") will fold in when I tow the fifth wheel camper. The stepside fenders will hang down lower and connect to the front with running boards. I am gong to use 4 fenders to make the two stretched fenders so the wheel opening looks big enough for the 22.5 tires. Kind of hard to picture but its all in my head and I know exactly what I am going to do. My drop dead deadline for this truck is Momorial day weekend. Thats our first camping trip and I have no other truck to pull the fifth wheel camper.
