Wrecking yard for trucks. I used a Peterbilt on my Conventional Cab F4. Had to be cut down chopped and channeled to get it right but it worked.
That is bad *** Steve! Sure would be neat if they'd turn a few out but the market is certainly limited.
That is the only sleeper I have ever seen that looks "right" on one of these trucks. Most look terribly out of place to me....
RMR&C, I agree 100%! All sleepers I've ever seen are straight and slab sided, this one follows the cab contours and that makes it look "right"
I called wescott about there sleeper last sumer. The cost and lead time wasn't worth it. Over the phone quote was $14k and six months<ie: not worth it!>
I took the initiative to send Westcott an email yesterday. Today I got a reply from his daughter in law Mary. Sorry - the sleeper was a one off that my father in law Dee Wescott did. Guess it doesn't matter how much money you have, you are not getting one
There you go guys, your first club project! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?do=discuss&group=&discussionid=42268
If I ever get a garage space to work in again, I would be happy to build one that can be duplicated. Also, if I can ever find a decent stock 41-47 grill to buy, I'd make a mold of that too.
Got another email from Mary Wescott We still have the mold - it's iffy - if you really have 6 guys Who want one - and if you are willing to put a deposit Down for the the 6 we'll do a quote and work on the mold. Let me know. Not sure what she wants for a deposit but I replied, give us a price and I will let the boys know. Who takes a deposit and doesn't know how much the end product will be ?
Kind of a catch 22. I'm sure they don't want to invest any time or money into it till they know you are serious.....but a ballpark price would be good. Maybe they would sell the mold?
Boy, I'm glad I don't have a Ford that needs a sleeper, I can sleep tonite! Anyone care to take a shot at what one of these is worth. (sell for) I've never bought/priced any gl*** bodies but this would be a nice addition if you want a sleeper on your truck. $3000-$4000 maybe? Higher? Lower?
OK Dudes here it is. Got an answer from Mary about the cost "It would be $12,500 for 6 sleepers." Anybody interested?
Would mine come with a sawzall? Anyone have a picture of the back of the sleeper? Is there a door or window back there?
And here is the latest from Mary at Wescott... It's $12,500/per unit, 1/2 down per unit - we have to to major work on the mold. Sorry boys, I am out. At $12,500, I think I can build my own mold If anyone wants to pursue this, I will p*** you Mary's contact info.
I'll make them for $12,499.00, minimum order of 5 and if you act now, I'll even throw in a little Chihuahua dog with a head that goes up and down. FYI - At that price, I'll rather buy a fibergl*** 34 Ford body to haul on the back of my COE.
