I recently rebuilt my 63 corvette front end. When putting the springs back in with a rented compressor I wasn’t able to seat the springs in the pocket perfectly. I would say I’m about 1/2” off from the end of the pocket.

Do the springs need to fit perfect in the pocket? Will they adjust after putting a few miles on it?

Don't you need to turn the spring until it fits in the pocket correctly. The pocket is shaped like the spring so they fit together in one position only. Like threading a bolt into a nut. IIRC. :D

I use this type to clock the coil springs in Chevys:
    1. Place the treaded shft in the shock hole
    2. Using only the bottom hooks
    3. Hook one side only (away from car)
    4. Tighten the compressor
    5. It will compress the coil at any angle and you can set the end of the coil correctly in the a arm.
