I am upgrading my 56 chevy truck front suspension and decided to go coil overs .I dont have access to a scale so trying to figure out what spring rate would be best for normal driving .Its 56 chevy truck with a camaro front clip and a small block chevy .

Pick-ups would be slightly lighter weight that a F-body so I would look with 400lb springs as a starting point for comfort.
A 400 lb/in spring gives you a wheel rate of about 175 lb/in with Camaro motion ratios
This should have a 5" spring load [at the wheel] on 3500lb vehicle with 50% front weight bias.

Spring load means you'll jack the front up 5 inches at the arch before the wheels come off the ground [or the springs unseat themselves ]

If I knew your truck weighs? or better still what does the front wheels weigh when parked on scales.
With a bit of info, I can calculate exactly what you what.

Springs need to be calculated at "Cycles per second" as well as Lbs per inch and spring load
