Great job, Cole. Really nice lines on that bike. I think your color paid off, too.
I think Hank's seat ruined the look of his bike for me.

One of my favorite parts of this episode was the all out CLASS that both of the builders have. No shit-talking, no insults, no name calling, no phony predictions- just two artists showing a great deal of respect for one another and their work.

  2. Right on. I knew the outcome would be Hank Young... I was talking with my roomate, and I think that the Young bike won because it was more "over the top"... The standard mindless drivel of an audience that votes on the outcomes of the bikes always vote for the more "flashy" bike.

Hank's bike is a hell of a show bike, but if I was going to build one, or wanted to ride one of the bikes every day, I'd choose Cole's in a minute! Functionality wins in my book.

  4. Ok, so I get home from work to find my new TRJ in it's clean white envelope. I open it to find Cole's work on the 36 ford 3 [ok, 5] window displayed proudly on the cover. I tell my wife........."Hey! I know this guy!"

This evening I'm occilating between the last show of NYPD Blue and the biker build off and she comes into the room..........
"Hey, is that the same Cole dude?"
    "Yes dear"
    "God! You know everybody!"
Hee hee.....congrats on the ink and the TV show, Cole!

Hat's off to Mr. Young running a real HD ('61 Pan head!) The rear leaf pack off a '40 Ford used for a rear susp. '36 Ford spare tire holder cut down for fender's! Old timer pinstripe and lettering. A real old HD springer! Cole! His casting a art deco/50's diner oil tank made from a custom mold was killer. Re-shaping that gas tank was very impressive. His shop reflect's his personality. Eclectic. Old Lion's dragstrip poster w/a FED smoking the hide's doing a wheelie, Jungle Pam clock! Riding fresh bike's on Highway 1 south........good production too. Now will the metal master take another challange? Both bike's had achived the retro look with class. Keep your finger's crossed this style will stick.

  6. It was good to see Hank finaly get "proper" coverage. The film crew/ director on his first buildoff was clueless, way too much OCC bs. This show definately had more detail and tech than most (the paralel leaf 32 to illustrate a 40 spg was LAME). Hank said they let him pick who he went up against, and I got the impression he picked Cole out of mutual respect and because of the similar hotrod background. If you ever get to study one of Young's bikes up close the detail will blow you away! I realy love Cole's clean & simple style too.
I will never be able to get my brain around how the "masses" can prefer a gaudy, busy,over-done skull-covered bike like most of the ones on TV.

cole seems really cool. he's not egotistic or anything like alot of builders. he's so laid back and nice.

loved his bike and his shop from what i saw,

i still can't believe the aluminum hat he made, pure brilliance and skill

he's talking about how the monster garage episode was at an all black school where he had them build a bike from his catalog parts at their shop class.

he donated a shit load of tools to the school so it was really cool.

I think that was one of the best Biker Build offs yet! Both bikes were cool and so were the builders. Either one could have won in my opinion. I wish all of these types of shows would/could have the same quality.

Both were stunning examples of bike building. Nice job Cole!

  15. Good show, sorry my pal Cole lost but Hank is a good guy as well. I had the honor of introducing those two last summer and stood toe to toe with Cole,Hank and Josh swilling beer. I tried to give both of them shit to the point of fueling the fire but Hank and Cole are two of the most gentlemanly dudes out there. Gearheads that just want to build and pay the bills, like the rest of us.

BTW, Cole said I had nice hair :D Of course he said the same thing to the midget in Sturgis, pick up line or hair fetish?

  16. 1. I'd like to have seen more of Cole's fiance and less of Cole :)

    2. Mills, Cole, and Cole's fabricator have depleted the world's pomade supply.

    3. Subtlety is appreciated by few...but those few are the "important" ones.

    4. Hank's bike appealed to the masses because it so heavily leveraged nostalgia. Nostalgia is easy. It's much harder to look beyond the obvious and see beauty in simplicity.

Not saying I didn't appreciate the work that went into the Young bike. It was very creative. But Cole, your bike is a true custom. It showcases a fine eye for detail and design. Kudos to you jive ass'd turkey.

That was a damn cool build-off and hank is rock-a-riffic in his innovation. No doubt .That kat has it in spades, but Cole rules the line. Not one drawing . Pulled the whole thing out of his ass! swaZZie

That was a great build off, two class acts building two great looking bikes. I think they showed more build details than any other show, and both shops looked great.

You know why they seemed to show more of the bike building is because Cole and Hank dont act like asses and fill the camera with the retarded bs all they probably have is fotage of two professionals working on bikes. Dont give discovery too much credit.

I doubt that an episode of that show will EVER top the one we saw tonight....

I thought it was fucking RAD when Cole busted out his video camera to show us how he did the "poor man's bead roller"....

    NICE fucking bikes....

pissed me off, I feel asleep about 10 minutes before it was over.. Both bikes were great.. each has its own unique styling and so much thought put into them.. It was so cool to see two non-rigid bikes being built. Did you really build them in 10 days like they said or did I miss hear them.... HOW???

Congrats to both parties for outstanding efforts..

Now THERES a build-off...Cole's girl (Built by none other than GOD..) and Cole's Bike...Damn..thats a tough one. But in the end, Cole gets to have BOTH, so he wins. ha ha ha..

I have to say, Hank's bike had some great touches (Like everyone else said) but I don't like the way the back of the bike doesn't flow. Its kind of broken up by the hanging seat. But then again, it was a squared off kind of bike. I like the Pan motor, but the round covers don't go with the squareness of the tanks used. I liked Hank's use of different materials. Who would have thought of wicker on a bike? Or wood? I thought Cole's bike flowed very well and was much more simplistic. I like the bobber style more myself. Not saying I could ever do what either of them do, just my visual notes..

I dont usaully watch biker build off becuase of the assyness of a lot of the builders. It was refreshing to watch Cole and Hank act like gentlemen, the other guys should watch and learn. Both bikes are cool, but Hanks looks like a bitch to ride. Is the Jungle Pam clock in Coles shop? I have loved her since I was 8. Jay
