my 6 year old daughter was watching with me, and when hank's seat showed up, she said, 'we have that!', i laughed when she pointed to the ceiling fan blade...oak finish with a wicker insert:D

thanks cole, it's not enough to show us that you have cool bikes, cars and talent, you gotta show off the hot girlfriend, too? bastard!

how much for an aluminum fez with the tassle made out of x-mas tree icicles?

Both are cool bikes, that is for sure.

I was pulling for Cole to win, mainly because of his long standing membership here.

However, the build off is not about which is the coolest or best bike.
    It is about public opinion.

That show could have been at another area with a different crowd and results may have been different.

That both guys are cool people with definate skills goes without saying.

Biker buildoffs are far better fare than Discovery Channels regular cycle programming, especially OCC's part.

And, Thats all I got to say about that.

    Great Show
I liked the color of Hank's bike, and that amazing rear suspension set up, but for practial use & havin fun, Cole's win's hands down...

I loved that color scheme he picked...Trash can paint inspired :D

  8. Kick Ass Show! Both bikes were great, but I liked Cole's bike better, not just because he's a HAMBer, but because I liked the style and the way his bike flowed! Great job!!!!!! I have to agree that it will be tough to top that show, both bikes had style and both builders also had style and class!

  9. that was a great show, both builders and bikes had ALOT of class. I did prefer Coles bike, but Youngs was great on its own as well, it was just a little to ?? something not sure what I just know I would ride Coles in heartbeat. Congrats on the engagement Cole..

I have to say that that episode was one of the best buildoffs I've seen. Both builders are top-notch and behaved like gentleman and true craftsman. I loved looking at both bikes but would definitely rather ride Coles bike, as it looked much more comfortable. I loved the color schemes on both bikes as well, and that hand-lettering blew my mind. I'm actually glad that they put these two bikes together, as it seems like the super blinged-out bikes always win over the clean bikes in these things. (The public can be like a bunch of crows-- all mesmerized but the shiny shit)

I guess not everyone can have taste ;).

All I have to say is if there's a "a great hair buildoff", Cole wins, hands down. :p

I've never met Cole, he seems like he'd be a total asshole, a good looking one though.

I've met Hank Young, he seems like a nice chap, very congenial and all too willing to give up trade secrets. He's nowhere near as good looking as Cole.

What is with rock stars? They love girls with big hair.

  12. Cole is the most humble, soft spoken dude I've ever met... and that is saying a lot. He listens to what you have to say and talks about ideas for your projects... gives little tid-bits of info that you can put to use.

    In one word... mello.

    Sam.

  13. that was a great show!! I really dug the style of youngs bike I really dig the Bob Monroe bikes ness sells for the sporty motor .young took it to the next level.Coles style is all its own and he stuck to it. Young was well planed to win. Cole over came alot of problems and worked very hard to make a sweet bike

I was kidding about cole being an asshole. I really want to meet him and his dad one day.
Cole's one of those guys that will be remembered in the annals of hot rod history.

  15. all around good stuff.

i always wondered what a 'bomber' style bike looked like. now i know.

i never knew pat foster was the first ot go 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds. now i know.

i think the nice hair guy should market a line of hair product packaged in a finned cast aluminium jar with a radiator cap.

    nice work fellas!

The Sharpie drawn winged question mark with the halo above it on the raw metal tank of Cole's bike was neat.

My hair is way fucking cooler than Cole's... That top-5 bullshit really pissed me off... Fucker can't even compete man...

I can't make aluminum cowboy hats. I can't make bikinins. I can't make really short bikes. I'm not creative enough to know Jason Jesse. BUT, my hair kicks his ass... and my wife is pretty damn hot.

I need to get my own show... That's it.

    Your boobs aren't big enough...

I'd like to meet Cole as well and I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall at his shop during the build. He has nice hair...

Last night's show was an apples and apples comparison, and I liked that. If either went up against an OCC type bike, they would win in our microcosm. I dunno about the great unwashed though, seems like bling-bling is the thing. Which is okay by me, have at it, and leave the cool stuff for me (us). Hank went the antiqued route, which was neat, and the 1/4 elliptical spring was genius, pure and simple. I could see it on Cole's face when he saw it, uh-oh. I didn't like the handlebars on Hank's bike, just a personal preference. Cole's bike was the best balanced bike in my opinion and would have gotten my vote on that alone. Cole, you have the eye and the skills.

I was Cole's behind-the-scenes hair stylist. He's got a tough cowlick, but my coif-mastery overcame (except for the pre-pomade wake-up scene that slipped in!).

Odd...I always thought Cole had a glowing halo over his head.

Both bikes were cool. I think Young's would look better with less rake, and I'd hate to have to ride it more than a few miles at a time. More of a garage trophy kinda thing.

Art over function is cool - up to the point were it becomes something that you look at more than you ride.

Cole's looked like it was ready to win the Springfield Mile. Beautiful and functional combined.

Did anyone notice the bare metal 36 Ford in the shop background?
It belongs to Kirk Hammett of Metallica .It's encredible.
Look for the feature on it in the Rodders Journal # 27 out now.
Theres also some good reading by Pat Ganahl about Cole Foster's
    "Salinas Boys" shop.

Ouch!!! Dude, if someone likens you to carrot-top in any way, forget it. You're done.

No ammount of "your mamma's" will ever bring you back from that.

When are we gonna have The Great HAMB Hair-Off?
Will it be Ryan and Cole Head-to-Head, Or will there be Bracket-Greasing to determine the winner.

Last night watching this i agreed that this was the first time on that show that i like the look of both bikes. I personally however prefered the look and functionality of cole's bike myself. But seeing how this is decided by public opinion i can understand where hank young's bike won. It was made clear to me last night when i was watching it with my girlfriend and we were talking about both of the bikes at the end when they were done. (yes i am lucky to have a girlfriend with at least enough interest in such things to humor me) The comment she made about coles bike is that it looked like a " regular bike" to her. I took this to mean that it just wasn't as over the top as a lot of entries in this series. And being that the judging for this is not done by profesionals but the public i could just imagine people seeing it as she did ( the "untrained eye") If a person doens't know what they are looking at then they are gonna go for the wilder one as being "cooler".

    Just my thoughts on it

  30. I can't help it, but I just don't like the bike Hank Young built this time... Not to crawl up Cole's ass or anything...
And, much respect to the fabrication skills of J. Mills and Hank Young... I really DO like a lot of the bikes they built, but this one just doesn't do it for me...
I don't like a 45 springer under that raked angle... The location/position of the seat... The shape of the tank... Sorry guys... Not for me this time.
