  2. HOLY SHIT!!!!! I wasn't sure who you were talking about, til I start reading....then realized it was Casey! I'm dumbfounded....
We chatted about my show pic's all the time. He was gonna come here for the LARS. I'm SOOOOO bummed about this! I don't care what the reasons are...he was too young to go! What a great loss.
    Gonna miss him...

  3. Casey was charmer, comedian, happy go luck and a pretty good flattie mechanic.

    Tought time, V

  4. Just signed on and I'm in shock, don't know what to say.I didnt know him very well, I introduced my self to him at Goodguys a few years back, saw him at the Thaw the next year and didnt expect him to remember me, but he did, name and all. Real good guy ,always had a smile. He will be missed. RIP Collin.

I know its been said already but we will miss seeing him at all the shows and drags. If there was a show casey was there, it did not matter if it was racing a plane or a world record holding drag car he was game. you will be missed!

  6. This is hard. Lux, you said it all. Prayers for the family.

Something just won't be right anymore not seeing that blue coupe make 30 passes at an event.

    RIP To the FASTEST FLATHEAD

  7. I met Casey the year I drove my coupe all the way to roundup and he was so jazzed that I drove all that way. He was so excited that all these people came to roundup from all over the country. I was so looking forward to seeing him again this year. To the family if there is anything we can do please let us know.

You "thought it was just a matter of time"?

Gosh......why? The guy was FULL of flat heads, beer, & LIFE. I see that you never met him, but I don't see that what you knew of Collin on this forum would lead you to this idea.......

I don't mean to call you out or to be disrespectful of your impressions....only to question your (as well as my own) ideas about the Collin we feel we know. I guess I'm just surprised to see someone suggest that they noticed a fatalistic note to his personality?

Again, no attack or negative implied.........

Perhaps I misunderstand your comment as I am often a dunderhead anyway.

Please know that MY impression of Collin (& God knows that many knew him better than I) was one of a happy go lucky guy, who was quick to offer beer & debate the merits of bracket over heads up, while all the while, genuine, honest & sincere.

Kinda makes him sound like a saint haha, but hell...........

    Drag on Collin.

I read it as it was "just a matter of time" before they met.

Regardless of interpretations, he was to young and full of life to be taken so soon.

  16. Did the three of us(and several others) not have a few beers behind the Continental Club a couple years back? I believe Hot Rod Ron was there, and Wyatt, among others...

WOW!!!!! This is just so hard to swallow. He was such a cool guy. A couple years ago while visiting my mom in Austin I got to go visit him at his house/shop/land. We had a good time together hanging out and looking at old hot rod pics. He gave me book that had been handed down to him about rebuilding toploader trannys. He was what he was everyday to whoever you were. Never any different. He was a true hotrodder for sure. Drove them axles smooth of the Coupe. I remember my dad telling me how talented he was coming up. Working at great shops like Uncle Daniels Car Factory, and Gene Reese Hot Rods, before settling down to his own shop. He was very talented hot rod builder. A hero to younger guys like me.

Excuse my french, but this just fing sucks bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Colin you will dearly be missed by all the hot rod community, We luv you brother

That is one the greatest pictures ever. I am truely shocked! I met him once, at the 07 roundup. Drove there in my 32. I saw a 46? ford coupe on the side of the road jsut outside of the gate and stopped to help. Sir Casey stopped also. Turned out to be a bad ignition and we couldnt fix it, so Casey grabbed a tow rope and towed the dead ford into the roundup behind his 32, Bad ass!

    RIP

    Jeff

This post has been the hardest to read of any post I've ever seen on the HAMB. Lux said it very well, every time I saw Casey come driving up I instantly started to smile, I knew the party was to step up a notch. I was lucky in that I was also on his e-mail list, he sent lots of funny stuff. The photo of him in the grocery store is priceless, I choked up bad when I saw it, just classic Casey. Denise's photos, I was there when several were taken. He touched a lot of lives, brought smiles and laughter to us all. I heard about this at dinner tonight from my son in law, been real hard not to cry ever since.
