I bought a 35 Ford 5 window about 6 months ago. The chassis is just about completed. I need to finish the body work but I'm looking to decide a color soon. Can anybody give me some ideas/pictures for color on a 35/36 that is not chopped and will be running a lowered stance with traditional running boards and top insert?
I don't see many light to medium gray cars, but my grandfathers new Ford in 1937 was light/medium gray with a pea green pinstripe. I hope to live long enough to paint my 35 that color. Gray looks good with any color. Red and blue are traditional with gray but consider yellow, orange or light blue, maybe purple
Washington blue or black. You can look at early ford color chips here: http://www.tcpglobal.com/autocolorlibrary/ Make it shine Rich
Black from the beltline up, and rust/bronze below. I personally love 2-tones. My dad's Plymouth is silver/dark red with a blue pinstripe and ghost flames.
browns seems to have caught my eye lately and heres the color my coupe is going to be shot in....tiger eye mica...used on late model Lexus coupe...
Ditto here; also check out Avon Blue, actually a green hue, similar to 40 Cloud Mist Grey......and 50-52 F-1 Glade Green......decisions, decisions.....
Sorry that I don't have pictures, but my boss has a 35 on chrome wire wheels that is pearl white, with subtle purple and tan pinstriping that is pretty nice.
Or some other old Ford colors like these: http://www.tcpglobal.com/aclchip.aspx?image=1936-ford-pg04.jpg
Tell yourself it will be black than you will know the body will be good enough for any color. In the end go black anyway! Not my car.............. yet! Yep, I know his is a '35 but who's counting........
My vote is for black. If not black, a dark color. No metallic colors, no 2-tones, no light or pastel colors. Good luck with your project.
