Go with a candy color a flat color tend to make it look washed out ( although flat does work on some ) still with yours go candy .
I'd go with something alittle different than Red/Maroon. Something along the lines of mary-kay pink. I saw a Caddy the other day and I'm not one for pink normally. but that pearl just looks outstanding in the sunlight. That with white interior.
Rick, thanks for the extra pics! The wife likes does like that custom mix candy blue. She also likes the super bright orange candy. So its down to these two. I known the blue would be the most original. Thanks everyone for your suggestions.
That car is going to be****s! What i would do is ,when it is finished, take it to Gene and tell him to pop that fade on it ! That car needs a kustom color that isnt on any other merc yet! Landmark that*****!..and keep us updated! Diggin the skirts!
Im wondering about the same...But I like solid colors...Deep Blue, Black, Dark Gray...But I liked some colors I saw here too...This is also about WHO paints the car...The way the paint job is aproached makes a lot of difference!
maybe thecandy blue with a small flake and fade the base coat?hmmm now im gonna be messed up all weekend thinkin about it!
I am old enough to recall we mixed our own custom paint. Adding blue or purple to black was a favourite of mine. The car looked black, but had just a hint of the second colour. It was actualy pretty cool. You still see it now and then on very old customs. The owner should decide the colour of their car I think. I was just remembering a '49 Merc a friend did long ago. Black with a pint of Midnight blue. Maybe my next paint job...
Wow that merc is bad, It needs to be different so how about a candy tangerine pearl with scalops done in a copper small flake
That car is really special....I liked EXK post# 17 blue and mckustoms post# 40. I agree this car needs to stand out with a different paint job, my 1st thought was the maroon but I was wrrrrrrong!
Radiance II Brandywine over silver, with a bit of blue in the basecoat, but then again, I am kinda biased. (see avatar)
Awesome looking car!!!!!!! How about the deepest, darkest, black. With blacked out windows. Or any color you choose would be the best.
Any metallic or candy color, not too dark so as to show off all that sculpturing. Paint it black and all the effort in creating those creases and gaps (or lack of as in the skirt area will be lost).
Thanks for all the responses and ideas. I gave Rick @ EXK the go ahead with with the medium/dark metallic blue base. Then were adding ghost flames with gold mini flake. Then smothered all in Kandy. It will be ready for the Long Beach Autorama show. In september 2010 I'll post more pics of the complete car.
