So, this is the first time I'm driving into the GG event in Columbus. I'm planning on being there Saturday morning around 8AM. Any of you Columbus vets got any words of wisdom to help me out?

I know where the registration building is only because of the HAMB Meet & Greets over the years. I'm guessing I should just follow all the other lemmings off the interstate, huh...

I can only make it up on Sunday, would it be worth the trip or should I wait for next year? Is there anything happening on Sunday, or does everybody just head for home?

    Thanks,

I actually enjoy Sunday as much if not more then Saturday. There are still ALOT of cars, you can actually cruzn around the fairgrounds without running someone over or overheating, can find a decent, shaded spot to part without getting there at 5am, just a more laid back atmosphere that I enjoy more then the hussle of Saturday.

I'm headed out in an hour with 4 other cars. I'll be in the little black 32 roadster that'll likely be parked right inside the gate... Stop by and introduce yourself!

Thanks Denise, that really helps. I might come on Saturday and bring my babies up (Mary is 4 and Cole is 18 months) but it would be really fun to drive the car up on Sunday.

I haven't been to Columbus since my Grandma Mary Kimble (who my daughter is named after) took me when I was about 7 or 8 years old. We are talking 1976 or 1977 here... I should try to scan a couple pics from that!!! Would mean a lot to me to attend with my kids - who she unfortunately never met - and would also mean a lot to drive into the fairgrounds in a car I built with my Dad - her son.

Hope to see you there one way or another,
    Will Kimble

Denise nailed it. Last year was the first Sunday that I went and I was amazed how much nicer it was from an entrant's standpoint. Think of it as putting on a shirt one size too big; real comfy with a little bit more room to move. All the hardcore folks, (Denise and company) were still there and they're the ones you wanna hang with anyway!

  17. I'll be at GG all day Saturday - with a gang of folks. If I'm not stuck in a booth someplace, I'll try to make the meet n' greet. Hope to see some of you Hambers . .

Thanks for the info, I will be there on Sunday weather (and banger gods) permitting. I will be easy to spot - black banger powered RPU with no hood and an accessory trunk instead of a bed, license plate says "The Manx". Hope to meet some HAMBers.

Will, I just saw your site and all I can say is WOW!!!! Great work! I used to build electric guitars and worked as a repairman at a local music store for several years. Your work is amazing! I can't wait to meet you to pick your brain - so be prepared!

    Bob,
Yes, we finally ventured on the HAMB! This is a great place...

That is great about Tony... we'll look him up.

I'll send a PM with info for you to ring us. Hope to see you at GG Columbus. Talk later.

Tony will be in the Expo center with the CRA building a 32 Ford Roadster. The car is not HAMB friendly, but he is learning a lot this week. It will be driven into the awards ceremony on Sunday (hopefully!!)

He would get a kick out of any HAMBers looking him up and saying "Hey!"

You won't miss him. He is the only 16-19 year old out of the group that is 6'6 and about 250...

This is what the car looked like on Monday/Tuesday of this week...

Bob, good for Tony- what a great opportunity! I would have loved to do that in my younger years. Heck, I'd love to do it now!

Julia, see you at the Meet and Greet. I'll keep an eye out for your wagon at the show!

I'm leaving by lunchtime, see you all soon!

Anybody from Charlotte going to Columbus this weekend? Maybe they could scoop that Roadster quarter from you Denise? A little late probably. I didn't even think about it.
