High noon on Saturday works for me as well. I'll look on my hard drive when I get home for a map of the area. For those that don't know where we're talking about, the door that you walk into the registration building is on the side of said building. The grassy area we are talking about is the front and center of that building.

  4. I'm planning on heading that way on Friday afternoon. Is anyone going to the dragstrip Friday afternoon/evening?

The swap area is back by the pro's pick area with most of it being under a large roof.

My 77 GMC doesn't have air or OverD, and makes 10mpg. So, is their swap worth anything? Any old stuff. Some (many) I go to are all SBC and street R stuff.....

If there is a lot of old stuff, the little lady and the baby will have to endure the 77!

......how much you wanna bet I have to drive the ricer! :)

The swap meet has been great the last few years. Lots of old stuff.
In fact usually more stuff than we have money.

No air conditioning!!! You wuss. :D I plan to drive my flathead there.
I just hope the temps drop off some beforehand. The flathead doesnt like 95 degree temps.

I'm with Petejoe with no air in the Merc. Guess I'll have to open the vent wings wider and drive faster!

Thanks to Denise I think I have a place to stay at a Day's Inn near the fairgrounds. I'll be coming in Thursday evening and departing Sunday morning. It'll be a pleasure to put some names with faces. (No dammit not feces!)

Saturday noon works for me. Again, if any of youse get in a situation, let me know. (I may not be able to help, but I'm real good at laughing at the misfortunes of others--isn't there a word in German for that?!) :D

Denise, do newbies get cookies, or at least crumbs?

BTW, Blown49, how was that car show down your way? I wish I had come your way instead of towards Rio Grande.........but the Great Racers coming in Ashland was a DIFFERENT story! Wow!

the drag strip is about 20 30 mins east of cols. and i think there is a extra fee to go .so , if your cheep like me , id pass and just go to the grounds and cruz hotels in the eve's...save that loot for hot rod parts.....

  18. $12 if purchased at registration, $15 bucks at the track.
I enjoyed watching the racing at Indy.

I'll just eat one less burger at the show and use that money to see some racing!

We used to go to the track, but after being at the grounds all day, now we just head to the hotel to shower and fight over which of our 10 favorite eating joints we'll go to that day:D
and hang around the dozen hotels near-by. Lots of action normally.

Thanks to hotrodladycruiser I got a room this morning. It's in Dublin but at this late date I'd take most anything. Problem is I haven't been to this show b4 so don't really have any idea where the "grassy knoll" is or ideas as to where to park for the show. I will be arriving sometime Thursday afternoon and after check-in at the motel will be headed for the fairgrounds.

    1. Do I park inside the fairgrounds or is there a better place to park?

    2. Looking at the main entrance gate where is the grassy knoll?

    3. Who all is going to be there on Thursday?

When you first drive in you will be "directed" to the registration building to get your credentials. The FRONT of that registration building is a large expanse of grass. The grassy knoll area is directly front and center of the registration building. The show is Friday, Sat and Sun but I'm sure you can register on Thursday.

  25. So I'm assuming the entrance is on the SIDE of that building :D

Because there is alot of cement on the side you enter to get your credentials.

I'll be there as well. Get in Thursday night..... but at the airport. So same place as last year, right. Noon on saturday, I'll try and slip out of the booth and get over to see the ride and the folks. If you get a chance stop by the House of Kolor booth.....

For anyone needing a room try the Hilliard area. There are a bunch of hotels at the I-70/Rome-Hilliard Rd. exit. It is usually pretty easy to get a room around there. I will see if I can get the list of hotels and post them.
