I'll be in the HighRoller area with my dad and grandpa. Gotta represent my business, but then again how many cool lookin migets will be there? I'll be riding my candy red electric cart, If'n anybody happens to go by the big money car we'll be the bright ass yellow Camaro with twin superchargers. here's a picture, come by and see what ya think (I know that Camaro's aren't that cool, but try and tell my grandpa that)
ill be there thursday thru saturday. ill be working some, but ill be by to see you guys. black 32 hiboy sedan___dan
They did that for us at Des Moines last year, really nice. We are staying at the Best Western off 70 - Exit 91. Evans Way Court. We stayed there 3 years ago and thought it was pretty cool, and not far from the show.
As I said in an earlier post, We'll be rolling into Columbus by noon thursday. Should be to registration by 1-ish. Then just around. I do have rooms available. Some of our crew have bailed due to various reasons. We stay on the big hotel/food circle in Worthington. About 10-12 minutes from the fairgrounds. Really nice area. If you are interested in one of our extra rooms for a Thursday check-in, PM me by monday evening. I am cancelling all extras by noon tuesday. We got great rates because we reserved them in Jan. and went through AAA. Look for these to find me
I am still hoping to make it for the weekend! I had a little girl who decided it was time for mom to give birth early so I have a newborn in the childrens hospital! I need to see how the next week goes to see if I can make it over at all. If I cant come all 3 days I at least want to drive the buick over saturday. Id like to meet a few of you over there. As for motels I found a signature inn at the port columbus airport. its just as close as alot of the other hotels along 161 (dublin-granville rd)
Just to avoid confusion, the Garage Grown area is now called Suede & Chrome. It will be Saturday and will be near the entrance to the show. It's likely that I'll be at the entrance.
I thought I saw somewhere that S&C was only certain GG's shows? And Columbus wasn't on that list. Maybe I was on better drugs that day and imagined it I need more of those drugs
Ok, I gotta ask the dumb question.... S&C is the same as Garage Grown, and I read the piece in the gazet as to why you changed it.... but my truck is faded and rusty, not exactly suede, and has very little chrome. Does that mean I can or cannot park there? And also Kirk, I really want to look you up so you can sign my hubcap. So if you see a big bald headed guy with long chin whiskers chaseing you around, just stop for a minute! LOL
what day are you heading out? i live about 10 or 15 blocks off of I-70. wanna swing by and pick it up? or i could meet you at one of the gas stations off the exit ramp for Emerson Ave.
I think I am going to head out Friday. I might have some stuff with me, so I don't know if I'll have the room. PM me, and I'll let you know what's going when I figure it all out.
Lil Mike,I think Camaros are cool. I've owned about 15 of them. Used to restore and drag race them in the late 60's-70's. I'll be bringing my son who still has the origional Z-28 I gave him for his 16th birthday. He spent 2 years restoring it to drive to high school and college. When he graduated college I put in storage for 18 years and now he has it back and doing a re-restoration/pro touring job on it. He'll probably be all over you yellow '69. Frank
Hi, I'm new to hamb, but have been attending the good guys drags at national trail for several years. Are most people going to the strip? Sold my '69 442 a while ago and looking to build an old school rod next. Would love to get more involved with people who know this stuff. I live in Marysville just outside Columbus. Sam
Crap, I'm gonna have to print this whole thread to remember who is who and what is what!!! Fab, I'd like to meet as many as I can..... I'll probably have my nose in the parts.......I never can seem to get out of them.........I guess, on the good side, I'm flat broke so I may be able to escape the parts and get to look at some cars for once........ Hope to see you all there!
just brining it to the top for all who cant surf from work............ i ,personaly, cant waint to meet everyone. for those who may not know where the grassy knoll is.here we go. as you come in to registration you will be on 17th ave.they will twist you aournd the buildings a bit but will rout you back towards 17th again. turn right and head west aprox 1 block. just before you feel like you gonna leave the grounds on your right is registration and a lrg building thtat may look like a old high school. thats the one . in the grass diecrtly in front of that building is IT.at high noon sat. there is a drive off the street for all of you to come up with. its lowrider friendly too...... ill be there with a black primed A full fendered truck, along with my other friends with a 68 impala,36 olds ,41stude,62falcon so keep these veh in mind.....until the big week end ....im signing off and enjoying some fireworks......
Oops...you're right. There isn't one at Columbus. Sorry, hope to see you guys anyway. Terry: Of course your ride fits. It doesn't have to be sueda with lots of chrome. The name change was just to differenciate it more from the Homebuilt Heaven area. That area is more for the guys trying to build highly finished cars but doing it themselves. Suede & Chrome is for Billetproof style cars and trucks.
The wife and I are going Friday and Saturday nights at the Super 8. I don't have the passes yet. It's our Wedding Anniverasary on The 9th. My brother in laws Boxing at a local pub. The other Brother in law lives up there.
Yes Booboo... you are a TIGHT ASS!!!! Spend the extra bux to see this fellow Hamber run all weekend. Should be fun to watch!!! I'll see everyone at the gathering...and Yes, REV is still on hold...For the time being... Stitch
If anyone is going on the "cruise" to Columbus, stop by the Soffseal pitstop (on Thursday) in Harrison, Ohio get some eats, a shop tour and say hello... I am a mold maker and will be wearing my HAMB T-shirt Steve
yes i squeak when i walk but i have a complete interior eh? suppose your slammed till july 8th with everyone wanting stuff done .... i tried to call a few times but i guessed you WERE slammed so i just left a message. are ya getting the plym out?.... id like to see it there....also is your moms truck going to be done too? well ,ill find out soon enough , talk later .....booboo
If you see this car on interstate 70 going west. I'm a HAMBer on a maden voyage. Should be pulling into town Friday night. Might stop at the drags.
It looks like I will be heading out from Pittsburgh on thursday morning and going straight to registration. I will be there all 3 days and heading out on monday morning.
does anybody know if spots for the swap or car corrall are still available? I have to make the track roadster go away. I will post an ad in the classifieds if any one is interested.
Petejoe!!! Hey, chump! I had a little trick up my sleeve. I told you my 77GMC doesn't have AC. Well, my 78 does and I put a new compressor, dryer and filter on it today. Now, I can bring the little lady in style (she hates my trucks)! While you're on fire in that clapped out 37, I'll be playing high roller in my 78 GMC with air! ........didn't know I had another one, huh? I'm a sucker for 70's chebbie trucks........ PS I can take it the wifey and 10 month old can't....
Friday night at the dragstrip is a mirror image of Indy, only the show is not co-located with the track. Lots of old time diggers and 200+ MPH door slammers. With all the heat generated regarding "Gassers", this is the opportunity to see some run, something you don't usually see in the "motel parking lots". I would submit that this sport cut it's teeth on the salt and at dragstrips of this wonderful country, not at the Holiday Inns! At registration you can purchase a pass for an evening at the track, I think it's $10.00. They set up an 1/8 mile pass for the event participants, God forbid should I say "Street Rod", you need to have seat belts installed and NHRA requires long pants. The hot cars will be making 1/4 miles passes. Registration starts at 0 dark 30 Thursday morning, it usually attracts folks lining both sides of the street watching cars arriving. It's a fun venue, but be advised that there is no food or vendors of any kind and participants are not allowed on the fairground side till Friday morning. My experience, and I have attended all of them to date, Friday and Sunday are mellow, lots of room to cruise around..................Saturday is gridlock! The swap meet was back by the big slide last year, pretty decent showing of vendors. Back in the same corner is also the Pros Pick area, it an excellent area to quarantine all of the trailer queens! Have a great weekend and I'll see you on the grass at high noon Saturday! Shoe
