Well for those who care to know...it appears that the sound was wind noise. 60gasser had told me that's what he thought it was so good job dude! I didn't think there was any way in hell wind could make that noise. I have a few gaps in my windshield and I'm pretty certain I can silicone them up and all will be good again.
Did what TOYBOX suggested so far as cutting the engine and coasting and it was pretty obvious it was wind noise. Little embarrased, but glad it was nothing costly.

The car sounds like a handfull, thanks for the ride along!

Does the squeal change with engine rpm's or vehicle speed? It sounds like possibly the alternator fan is rubbing on the alternator body. I've had it happen a couple of times due to careless handling (dropped, bumped, etc...) Pop the belt off and give it a spin, you'll know right away. While you're at it give the waterpump pulley a spin too. To check the brakes or wheel bearings jack up the front and give the wheels a spin. Again, you will know right away if something is amiss. FWIW I don't think it's a wheel bearing, they usually make more of a "whirring" sound when they go bad. Whatever it is there ought to be some "witness" marks where the parts are scraping each other, look carefully because they might be very slight.

    Good luck...

Thanks everybody for the help! I really think it's just wind noise. After getting it up to speed I put it in neutral and cut the engine (thanks again TOYBOX) and sure enough there the sound was and it sounded like wind noise to us. I have some pretty big gaps around certain parts of my windshield. Gonna break out the silicone and get to caulking!

I heard it will probably rain this weekend:mad:. Was trying to put together a cruise for this weekend and weather looks like it may bite us in the****. Fouling plugs right now so Dallas traffic is out unless I trailer it and I'd rather***** rope than do that unless it's to a strip. Car does NOT like stop and go traffic and likely never will. It's a drags and country back roads kinda car. Your welcome to come down for a visit though Gary.

I know it doesn't sound possible does it? lol. I was shocked myself, but we checked the bearings and they needed a good greasing, but that was about it. Took it back out, cut the engine and wind noise was whistling loud as hell. I will look at the pulleys just to make sure, but really don't expect to find anything.

No, the noise does not alter with changes in rpm Black Sheep. I think I finally got lucky for once on this car!

Hey John........ After riding in the T with you yesterday, I'm convinced that the noise is coming from the loose nut behind the wheel!!!

Build a hundred bridges and your a bridge builder, blow one cop and your a****. Seems so unfair.

I'm glad though that I haven't recieved any bad vibes from the police. They have all been real cool about the car. VERY encouraging!

    Very nice ride ,

You have to be proud of that ,

and I know the grin will be their most of the night if not longer...

SO if you can sleep tonight be careful on the next ride...

I would have bet good money on a wheel bearing !

  23. Mustn't confuse it with "krupanuts" Whistler...!:D

Definitely... metal to metal scraping... check out inspection cover or timing marker that might be rubbing against the fly wheel or balancer?

Thanks!!! I plan on posting plenty more! Hopefully with a little more action...whistle is probably here to stay though. I have a wood floor with gaps around the pedals, shifter, E-brake and everywhere else lol. I don't care if it whistles like a tea kettle as long as it runs like hell!:D

I thought so too man, but you can hear it better when you put it in neutral and cut the engine while driving. Noise is absent unless car is moving. Noise is not constant while driving and bears no relationship to breaking, turning, certain speeds or anything else. Looked at wheel bearings and they needed grease, but that was all. Car does not drive funny at all...matter of fact it steers and brakes like a dream. All pulleys are good. When we cut the engine at speed we both just looked at each other and said, "my God it's wind noise". I'll keep an open mind, but feel pretty certain that's what it is. I will admit though that the video sounds like it has to be metal on metal.

Thanks Bugsy! I'm really looking forward to showing off how the car looks now. Big difference since my avatar pic was taken. I'll try and post something up this weekend. Need to try out that new in car flip camera I bought too sometime. This is certainly more fun than crawling around underneath it getting rust and gas in my eyes.

I just wanted to post a couple of before and after pics of the T. I guess you can treat it like that kids game where you have to figure out all the differences lol. I'm not talking about it being dirty now either so I'll beat you to that one.

I would like to add that these changes were not made for cosmetic reasons, but I do really like the way it looks now!
