Hey everyone! New to the HAMB, but I've been lurking here for quite awhile. I'm actually spreadin' out from the Jockey Journal so you may recognize me from there.

Any hoot, I live in Vegas and I've been into cars FOR-EV-ER! I'm into old chops and traditional bobbers also, but my one true love is hot rods... traditional hot rods at that! So here the story and the progression of my interests (for anyone who cares)... If you don't care about the story skip to the end where I tell you what I'm bringing to the board :)

It all started when I was about five (not quite FOR-EV-ER, but close) when my Dad showed me this picture, taken sometime in the mid 60's of him with his farm-built '30 Model A, Hemi Coupe made with only an ARC welder and a set of wrenches (no grinder, lathe, mill, nothing):

Of course that's all it took to get excited about cars!! He sold it right before I was born and has never lived the day down with me. At one point we actually went looking for it to buy it back and came up empty... SOOOO, later on in life, together we ended up buying the closest thing we could find to a Model A where we lived... a 1935 Ford coupe that a friend of ours was restoring and was getting too old to put the labor into it. The car had intentions that were not in the traditional sense, but more in the "Street Rod" sense with a splashing of billet parts on the motor and in the interior:eek: ... here's how it sits now:

Scary, I know! The mid-90's have called and they would like there street rod back!!
Anyway, that thing has potential, but I'm focusing my efforts back to the interests of traditional hot rodding and home built rods. In the next couple years I'm going to start looking again for a Model A coupe to chop-up. So keep me in mind if you're thinking of selling your project in the future. In the mean time, since the budget for cars has been low, I got into scoots... here's my Triumph:

Anyway, so I'm glad to be here and I really look forward to learning a lot! If it would help anyone and you have an idea that needs to be interfaced for design, I'm a Mechanical Engineer and I do a TON of design work! If anyone needs a CAD drawing to help them get their idea down on paper or they just want to make sure things will fit... shoot me a PM and I'd be glad to help out. I've drawn a couple frames for people based on their dimensions, but eventually I want to have more than just 2x4 z'd frames in my drawing catalog... not a traditional concept, but it's cheaper than startin' over sometimes... If that idea would help anyone, let me know!

    Glad to be here!
    Thanks for reading!

    Welcome to this board, Scooter.
Looks like your Dad chopped his own shorts, too.
Great family photo and great Triumph.

HAAAA!! That picture was very inspirational growing up.... thank god the shorts weren't!! He would kill me if he knew I posted that picture!! :D

I wonder what the odds are actually, that someone on this board owns that car??!! HMMMM!! Anyone live or buy a Model A resembling this one in the Rock Island area during the 70's??? Long shot... maybe I'll post a thread for the hell of it sometime... Never know!
