I am building a traditional appearing driver - nothing fancy. Just a cruiser. Its my first car build. I spent a few hours today messing with the rear coil overs to set the stance. It was sitting way too high in the rear. I already put a rear roll pan on it which helped. I moved the coil overs to the lowest setting on the top and on the bottom, with the springs dialed all the way down. On the side view the rear looks a bit lower than the front but I****ume when I get the sbc in, the front will settle down. The tires on it are only for mock up and I intend to get 30" skinnies which should go to within an inch below the body line. I think I'll reset the top mount so the shocks are closer to parallel. Shouldnt move it up by more than an inch Im guessing. Frame is about 7 inches off the ground - again want to be able to drive anywhere. Any comments would be welcomed. Helpful hints?
Looks like you have it working about right. The smallblock will change a lot, so i wouldn't worry until you have it all in. An old trick we used to do was throw 2x10's across the frame in front of the firewall and load it up with barbell weights until you had about 500lbs on it.... then you pretty well KNOW where the thing will sit front and rear. Just an idea.
Get all the parts hung on there and then worry about it. Looks to me like it will come down about right when done but it is easier to change at this stage. And lose the raised whitewalls, it ain't a 73 Monte Carlo!
On my sis in laws computer with a HUGE monitor but the type is dinky, didnt read that far and left my comment on the tires on the 55 out Dave, car is looking fine. You will be surprised how much the front and back will change as you add parts. And ALWAYS mock up with the same diameter you will use in the end, even if they are junkyard scabs.
Once you have have all the stuff on the car it will change, just went through that and still dinking.
