If you could mount radiators on these things, you should be able to drive them on the street....:)

This Dan Hart at Lyons. He also ran at San Gabriel and San Fernando. It was an east coast car trailered to SoCal and bought by Dan. Originally a 110” FED converted with an Austin American body… I believe his top speed was 184 with a 392… have lunch with him most Wednesdays…. IMG_6508.jpeg

Gerry Card from El Cerrito, California

March 1960: an early version of Gerry Card’s California Competition Coupe racing one of the top record holders in the USA, Leffler-Loukas out of the Midwest region on a Westcoast tour.

    Hello,

We were introduced to the hard running Competition Coupe of Gerry Card at the 1960 Bakersfield Smokers March Meet. In the pits, it looked very mean and fast. It looked like a pin point shape slicing through any obstruction for a victory in the Competition Coupe Class.

We were amazed at the shape and design of the coupe. It sounded powerful and made some outstanding runs. As time progresses, the paint color scheme was different, but the coupe was still fast looking and also, fast.

The ad in the Drag News weekly paper in 1964. What a cool race car and power to match. We were certainly surprised at the Competition Coupe being for sale. It would have been a great starting point for anyone wanting a ready to go, rolling chassis and body.

Gerry Card of El Cerrito owned Card Automotive Specialty in San Pablo, California, and campaigned a series of A/FMCs in the late '50s and early '60s. Card set a Standard 1320 record in the Sumner-Burt
    A/GMC in 1961.
