I remember an early HRM with a picture of a V8-60 powered Bantam coupe. Said it was the only street driven CC at the Nationals that year The writer was sorry to see the class going that way. Also mentioned that the car had been blown into a ditch by a passing semi on the way to the drags.

Al Bergler's "Aggravation", was the predecessor to his Ridler winning "More Aggravation". Not the weight added to the front of the frame to combat wheelstands that were partly induced by the rear overhang of the steel body.

Drag Cartoons publisher Pete Millar at the Patch prior to taking the car to Sweden when he moved there to live. The car eventually ended up in the UK. At that time the small block Ford engine seen here had been replaced with an early hemi.

Thanks to 296ardun we know that this is the Santa Ana based Dodge powered car of the Sandoval brothers that won class at the 1957 Nationals.

Due to the regular appearances that this car has made on theses pages everyone should know by now that it is the Dye and Hampton "Too Bad".

I just need a body found a couple but they were either way to nice to cut up or way too expensive to buy I have seriously considered it in my opinion the little honker is the perfect example though Patrick's panty dropper is a very fine example as well I just like the shortened sedan body better anyone have a sedan body they wanna donate to the cause lol

296ardun to the rescue once more, thanks Dave.
"Bill Traylor's "Animal" -- I never forgot watching this car run San Gabriel, off and on the track, but still broke the 1320 record at over 196. Aluminum chassis, body by Dave Stuckey customs, candy red paint. I pitted next to Bill, really good guy, loaned me a set of goggles when mine broke".
And here it is from the other end

And thanks also to George Klass as both images came from his site.

  14. Actually Roo, this is Bill Coburn and Neil Leffler's "Iron Mistress". The car ran the engines from both of their single engine coupes. I saw it run twice. It was a joke, competition wise. Way too heavy. It didn't last long.

  17. Too heavy well that explains the tag axle. ( only a trucker will get that one).

Dean were both axles drive axles? I got to believe that they were. I am seeing two sets of slicks right?

  22. One thing I have noticed about comp coupe is that as the class aged it became harder to determine what the body was supposed to resemble. This is not a slam by any means just an observation.

Bill Traylor was an AHRA world record holder with his fuel coupe, named The Animal, built around a rare Al Williams aluminum tube chassis.
