Harsh reality but true. Can't really make a complete list on it or a price tag. But the guys gave an overall list. swapmeets, catalogs and websites. GOOD LUCK with the bulid bud.

I'm trying to imagine two hot rods anywhere in the world, built from a 'list',and ending up identical. If you're building this 'list rod', and you really are a hot rodder, you'll probably get to about the 5th item on the list and think "Hmmm, the list says to use this part, but I got this thing over here that would work much better..."
    Just sayin...

  6. good info all. consider this.
    1. what is the end result you wish to achieve?
    2. what exactly do you have to start with?
    3. what is your time frame?
    4. then brake it down in sections- chassis-body-interior-engine-trans-rear end-drive shaft-etc
    5. after you have broken it down into the different sections of the build, concentrate on those specifics.
    6. compile the items needed for each section
    7. research-there are deals out there, don't limit yourself
    8. after determining your list, add at least 20%
    9. do as much of the build as you can yourself
    10. depending on how long it will take you, the price of items have a tendency to go up over time
    11. do not get yourself overwhelmed-it's supposed to be fun

Street rod is a generic term with quite a few variables. What kind of street rod? If you can define what you want to build, you've just created the basis your own list.

Ok all, sorry for the vague post and if I upset any of you. I didn't intend on being drilled for this. I meant more of a generalized and basic build sheet that would outline the major components. Through some more digging I found what what I needed at the street rods by michael site, there is actually a tab on the left that is labeled "build sheet." Sorry for the assinine question. Thanks to those of you who helped as much as they could, Dave.

Welcome to the HAMB, Dave. Ask a dumbish question and we swarm like sharks.
Its really all harmless fun. Kinda like the "new guy" at the shop. Now all ya gotta do is come back with a coupla six packs and a dozen burgers from the little indie joint that uses real dill pickles and about 4 lbs-o-fries and we're all good. Dont ask vague questions. Theyres too many sub type's of hot rod or cruiser. Dont let it disgourage you. We're big boys here and can take some ribbin.
    NOW, yaddya want?

Haha no discouragement on my end. Just reading these posts and then re-reading my question made me smack myself upside the head. I'm going to just go with it. Outline the look I'm after and the major components I'd like to use and just let the rest fall into place when the time comes.

  12. Just when you think you have everything, I am helpin' a guy build a 29 coupe. I have all the big stuff for the brakes, mastercylinder, pedals, calipers, ya know, all I need is the lines. So I drove to Speedway Motors spend $150.00 on lines and fittings, go to put it together today and I need a couple more things, down to the ol' local speedshop and drop another $170.00 on a couple more fittings. That's just lines and fittings and brake lite switch, porportioning valve etc. Can't put all that on a list. Whooda thunk.

Look inthe classifieds see something you think you might want look at the price then add 50% to that then your pretty close to what it will cost as far as a list wow the options are endless!!!!!!!
