Its funny people like us can bring a little happiness or even jar up all sorts of memories just by driving our old cars around town. My wife always gets a kick out of how exited people seem to get just seeing an old Chevy. Also it gives the oppurtunity to cross paths with people who would otherwise not have two words to say to each other.

Over the years I have had many little old ladies ask "Does that have a rumble seat?"
Always getting asked if it is for sale, The dumbest was "You didnt drive that here, did you?" when I was a thousand miles from home. Never been flashed but had a foxy passenger show'em to a full church van as we blazed by. Also, the same old What color ya gonna paint it?

Usually I get asked about the "Swing Away" Steering Wheel.
How it works and why Ford did it.

My absolute favorite one was when I was leaving the Brizio Open House last year.

I pull up next to a Beautiful '53 Buick Convertible at a Light and get a big Thumbs Up from the driver.
As the Light changes,it hits me...That's Neil Young!!

I get alot of thumbs up and smiles . also get the people taking pictures while driving. The funniest thing was when I meet up with a good friend of mine and he followed me to D.Q. He said that people were just about breaking there neck to get a look at the car.

Funny story's here! Homeless people seem to like my car to. If I'm driving on a highway and look at the rear-view mirror, everybody behind me will switch lanes.Actually I hate the attention. I wish it was 50's or 60's so no one would give a f*ck.

  8. I'm going to list these by car......most aren't hamb friendly but all are over 30 years old and I drive them all....when they aren't broken.:p

    My 1979 Ford truck.

I get a lot of guys talking to me about it. Usually at the gas station or the city dump. It's one of the nicest older non restored ford trucks in the area. I've had two different guys tell me they owned one almost exactly the same etc. and that mine looked like it just came off the show room floor. It makes me proud because my grandpa bought it new and has taken really good care of it. He gace it to me two years ago.

    My 1972 Chevy Blazer

I don't get a single look from this thing. that is until the top comes off.:p I always get guys trying to buy it at the gas station or knocking on my door.

    My 1967 GTO

definitely the one that gets the most attention. I can't go any where without someone asking about it. I've been held up at dinner and bars by people wanting to look at it or talk about it. And every mustang, camaro, and ricer wants to race.

    My 1931 A

bringing it home in the back of the truck. Old timer asks. 30 or 31? I replied I wasn't sure but it was either or. He then started to tell about his 30 av8. pretty cool.

I mean really, what am I supposed to do with all those panties they keep throwing through the window??? I gotta get rid of them before my wife sees them.

  11. I always wonder, being here in So Cal and driving through Little Saigon for instance, what the recent Vietnamese or other people from countries that did not grow up around a car culture or have exposure to old cars think when they see my '32.
I can't help but wonder if it isn't just a bit alien to them or if it just doesn't register at all.

  12. That is one of the funniest things I've ever read on here!!

reaction to the '48 Plym is pretty much positive, the usual thumbs up, smiles, and waves. But, I do live in the most liberal part of Phoenix, which is trying to be L.A. in the worst way. So it seems every couple of days I get accosted by some weedy looking little putz or beat up earth mama - usually screaming that I'm destroying the environment. My mom taught me to be tolerant of others views, so with the earth mama type I usually explain that everything about this car is recycled, kept out of landfills, etc. The weedy little earth saver guys I mostly just threaten to beat senseless and chase back to their cars, it's just too easy - fun too! Did you know driving a Prius is just like saying "do what ever you want, I won't fight back"?

I get reactions all the time when loading up my truck a Lowes. I find crowds around it at Wal Mart. I have little old ladies tell me how their husbands had truck like that, they used to throw the kids in the back and go to town. One guy said he drove a 3/4 ton like mine in H.S... Said he got his first piece of ass in that truck. I have people hanging out of windows asking what year it is. Mexicans all pile against the windows of the work vans to check it out. Kids point and smile. Ricers don't know what to think of the flamethrowers out the side. Everyone wants to know how it drives so low, then I air it out for them.....and still drive it.

  15. I love it when little kids have their faces stuck to the door glass of their Dad's Toyota, staring at my chopped '53 or bone stock '59 Impala, smiling, and waving, until I can't see them anymore. It gives me hope for the future when kids realize that japanese 4 doors aren't really cars after all. Glad I could help. The Brothers and Sisters REALLY dig the Impala !

I get attention driving my 56 Pontiac, but the attention that car brings is absolutly nothing compared to my daily, daily driver. I drive the Pontiac a good bit but I now leave it in the garage when it's nasty outside and I'm not going anywhere special.

I feel sort of like I'm at an AA meeting stating this but my daily is a 1976 AMC Pacer. Everyone loves that car (as long as someone else owns it). People are always waving and taking pics. I'm tellin, you, chicks dig the Pacer.

    I'm wvenfield, and I own a Pacer.......

I get a "thumbs-up" or a "nice truck" compliment about once daily. Many people try to guess the year...some right, most wrong. It feels good...we put a in alot of work to get these vehicles where they are. It's nice to have your hard work noticed. You get used to that attention too. You miss that when you jump into on of the newer vehicles.

  22. I get plenty of waves and thumbs-up when I'm in my truck, one of my nieces frends wanted to have her picture taken with it in her prom dress just the other day and now she uses it for her Facebook pic.

But My wife gets all the attention in her car, people even chase her down just to ask what kind of car it is, as far as I know it's the only one around our area. :)

I get complacent driving the coupe, kinda forget what I'm driving. What are these people staring at? oh yeah! pull up to a 4 way stop and nobody moves. The best one was an early morning at a traffic light. There was only one car at every light. I was waiting for my turn light and nobody moved, everybody sat thru their green lights.
Thumbs up, peace signs, waves, horns and yesterday a 60 something woman wolf whistled so I ooogaad her...too funny

I drove the 55 an hour & a half today and the best thing was cruising on I465 on the east side of Indy with a older couple in their Comet! Made my day to see how much they were enjoying their car and looking at mine!! :-D
