TBH I don't even know if building this engine - & putting it in a T is even a good idea, It's a nice engine compared to the Fords, has everything we want except the CI's anyway will keep pondering & thinking about boxing some rods!
Just make what you need? You only need a bit of metal, 2 hole saws and a hacksaw to cut it into shape!
So, what is the purpose of them? It's obvious! It makes the engine a variable compression engine. By putting more air pressure into the rid, it moves the piston higher up into the bore, and increases compression, making MORE power! Genius idea!
