con rods

hi all i am looking for some con rods that have 180mm centres and a 2 inch big end the little end size does not matter they are for a 1951 alvis 3 litre saloon any ideas would be appreciated thanks.

A 180 mm center-to-center length is about 7.08 inches. Probably about the best you'll find is a Ford V8 flathead rod with 7.00" c-t-c length and 2.00" big end; there are a couple of options from Scat. Not cheap, and I guess that importing them will cost even more. Note that they aren't "stock" dimension flathead rods, but custom pieces with the specific 2.00" big end. It's Scat #6700. Scat is a reputable outfit to buy from; they also have a lot of dealers, even some in Oz. If you have to custom order them anyway, you might be able to get the 180 mm c-t-c length. The ones I listed above are "off the shelf" items.

Beyond that, for stock ones you could recondition, perhaps flathead rods could be used with bearing spacers of some sort; I've seen that done before.

 

thanks for the info i will look into it i have a 2 spare engines and a blown up one that i want to rebuild so i have plenty of time on my hands just looking for some alternatives to the stock ones, i can get stock ones from red triangle in the uk or even some custom made ones from a place over here but again these options are not cheap, thanks again for the information.
