    I use short sections of railroad timbers for extra jack stands. I call them my hillbilly jack stands! They can’t collapse and can be cribbed upward.

    Cribbing, concrete not cinder, jibbidah, jabbadah, ya dee doo dah.

    Your only car? Never EVER gonna do anything else (yeah right, sign here)? Go buy 2 tall/truck stands and rest easy knowing you're set for life. What's it gonna cost, 75 for a pair? How long to stack n screw wood blocks? You sure the wood won't split when you screw or nail? Tall stands. The end. I bought mine 30 years ago. Dunno what I'd do without.

    My opinion though, you do you.
     
  5. The railroad shops support locomotives on wood cribbing. I nearly got killed when I was 14, probably a week or two after I got my '38 Ford pickup. I had it up on concrete blocks. I had just been working underneath it. It came crashing down seconds after I crawled out from under it.
