Hot Rods Congratulate me... First drive on the streets

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 4t64rd, Feb 24, 2009.

  1. Took me 23 years to get a degree, and 13 years to build a car...

No video, no fanfare, no celebrations just got in and and wheeled it out onto the street and drove it to get gas and home* last night at 9:15...

Nothing exploded, fell off (OK a screwdriver fell out when I got home), no leaks as far as I can see. It's not perfect, but I didn't hit anything or kill anyone... Even got a "THAT'S COOL!" from a trailer park kid on a bike that should have been in bed. Can't wait for the first "Is that a PT Cruiser?"

Drove it to work this morning.... This is going to be the longest day at work ever...

Thanks HAMB, Poor Boys, Don "One Eye" Steuernagel, Greg "FH" Rakowski, Joe and Bradley F., Jeff D., Margueritte and Dad.

Got the hood thing last night Flat Top Bob, and I got the battery strap... uh... leather guy.

    * Took a picture when I got home, as proof.

Atta boy! It's a good feeling, like you won a battle or "fulfilled the conquest of the prom queen",huh? Some kinda great therapy!

Just fired my truck off after 6 months of sitting and a brake swap.It felt good having it move under its own power too.

Congrats on getting it on the road! I've just entered my 14th year of not having a running driving hot rod so you're doing better than me.:D

The first drive is always the best.

  16. I think the best part is the transition from "I'm building" to "I built" a hot rod...

Congrats, that first drive is always one for the memory bank. Now the rest of us have one less excuse for not thrashing more in the garage.
