Read in the local newspaper sports section this morning that retired NASCAR driver Hershel McGriff has been inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame at the age of 94! He won his first race (the Southern 500, which I believe was at Daytona, on the beach) in 1950 at the age of 22. (I believe this was the race in which he drove a new Oldsmobile coupe from Portland, Oregon to Daytona, raced it, then drove it back to Portland) He drove in his last NASCAR race at Tucson Speedway (the Pro West Series) in 2018 at the age of 90!!! 68 years of racing!! Congratulations on well-deserved recognition!!!
Here here!! It’s tough when only one early competitor can go in a year who ran in NASCARS’s past. I’m betting AJ is getting close; he won quite a few races in the top class…
