conrod steering wheel

Gday Guys
A while back I saw a neat steering wheel featured in a rod in Rolls and Pleats which had been made from 2 conrods and some steel tube. It was the coolest thing Ive ever seen. (Yeah, I need to get out more!)
Anyways... the rods were pretty long - not v8. Anyone ever seen one like it and if so, what engine would give me the kind of rods Im after....I'm thinking long stroke straight 6.

Steve, I did not see the wheel you describe, but flathead ford V8's have 7" rods.
