hmmmm...the only inline Hemi from the big 3 that I know of was the ford escort, but that can't be right....

8 pages and I'm in awe of Squirrel even more. He knows a little about everything. I was going to give him another pat on the back with reputation, but got:

"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to squirrel again."

Oh well... he knows I love him! (not in a gay way, but a purely heterosexual, respectful way...)

  4. to be honest I would not have guessed that answer myself,Squirrel.
I had to remove all the chassis stuf off that old 37 RollRoyce when at my shop for a chassis upgrade and hotrod powerplant swap.....ONL;Y Rolls:D I ever built!

Found this on an interesting site:

Oops. Looks as though you've never heard of the Hemi-6 that was made and used exclusively by Chrysler Australia Ltd. from '70 to '81. In some stock forms, it was *extremely* powerful, giving vigorous runs for the money of Ford and GM V8s. A good book for more info is "The Valiant Book" by Pedr Davis. It's a chronicle of the Australian Chryslers from '62-'81

I had this engine in a 1950 pickup it was stock as far as I know and so long ago that I can't remember if it was dual points or not.It would run either on the drivers bank or the passenger side bank but not on all 8 cylinders together

The Austrailian Mopar 6. Some versions were factory rated at 300 HP. Technically though, since it was designed and produced in AU, is it still a "Big 3" motor?

Not tech, but I bet Squirrel knows the answer. What is the meaning of life? What is the one thing you never leave home without? For bonus points, describe the engine in the 1934 Chamberlain Special. Hint: there's 2 crankshafts.

I know the meaning of life, which is Seven.

(42 only applies to the British)

I never leave home without my pants.

something about opposed pistons....but I can't describe it.

  15. Appleseed right on the 6 pack, wrong on the Gurney roof. Only the GT40s had anything done to fit his ass in.

42 applies to Scandinavians as well. 42 is the meaning of my life!

    Q:
Why will the metric system always stay superior? :p

I'm pretty sure it doesn't make a difference, but we'll go with iron. (I don't have my Al block handy to look at.)

(BTW.....the correct question would be "What year(s)?") Yours is an excellent Q, though.

    "170 or 225?"

I cheated and found some pics of aluminum blocks, they have an open deck surface, the mold went in the top. so there are no freeze plugs on the sides of the block.

the year thing would have got me though.

thats right it was fitted to family cars and dodge trucks over here but the real fire breather had 3 x 48mm side draft webbers ,hi-comp head ,made 300hp+ and cut a flat 14 easily with a 4 spd box in our version of the charger designated E49 track pak they are easy to get to 400 hp without much more than cams and carby changes

you sure got me on the australian 6 hemi, because for some reason I don't think of cars made in other countries for local use to be from the big 3....even if they are, from a corporate perspective.

it was designed by CHRYSLER in australia ,so what your saying is that unless its not made in th USA it cant be chrysler?
so an australian built ford 34 5w coupe is not a ford?america is a place i love going to but it isnt the whole world !Ford,GM & Chrysler have been global companies for decades so yes it is a big 3 company!

    Sooo...Ummmm.....Did I stump the Squirrel?:p

The slant, from it's inception in '60, had three frost plugs until about '63. From then until it's demise in '87, there were five plugs in the left side. If you take a look at Scott's "Krylon Special" pics, it appears that his block is an early 3-plug casting.
