Not everyone is worried about PC. Alot of us live life to laugh and have good times, not get all Nancy about petty sheet. Looks to become another killer ride like your truck.
'' I think you probably underestimate the female Users on this Board. I doubt that they would be that overly sensitive, and I bet they have a better sense of humor than that. Unfortunately, that cant be said about everyone...
Not to be all nancy but it does bug me a little. That's the only "4 letter" word that bugs me oddly enough. But live and let live The main thing though,, I am amazed by the skills here. Great stuff, keep it coming. We tried to build one from a similar starting point back in the early 80's I think it ended up with even more bondo..
Yeah, I was a bit bummed to see them filled in. That is/was some old old school body mods. Either way, this is going to be a very cool cun-... er... vagtraption.
if the females on this board get offended by the 'C' word then their on the wrong board,my wife has no problem with me using that word when i'm working on junk---but toward her 'OH HELL NO! well any how back to your build, any frame mods?
Don't think so. The text in the body yes but not the heading. Maybe a mod can step in and confirm either way?
I will change it if ArtGeco wants me to. For now, it looks to me like its an unintentional typo. Which makes it pretty funny ( to me, at least...) It doesnt get sexist untill people think it applies in any way to Users on this Board. Which it clearly doesnt... Some people should have figleaves on their eyes...
Someone showed (told) me how to change a title of a post you started.. cursor up under it (don't let arrow turn into pointy finger thing) and left click twice quickly.. works a treat. Just sayin.
Really straight forward build. Hardcore old style parts. Very hard/good work. Many hours of getting it to a clean solid base. WAY more 'offensive' avatars than this thread title. Keep the updates coming. (Opps)
So, all of this garbage fell out of the heads. I'm having a really hard time freeing the motor and two cylinders are gonna end up really pitted at best. I wanna get some movement outta' it before I put any cash into it. My Pops gave me a BUILT 283 outta' his 55 bel aire, so I have an easy alternate motor. Anyway with all that said....... While the motor soaks... Dana was nice enough to donate a reverse Eye spring to the project, should give a hefty drop. It's shorter in length too. I had this spring that is the same basic length and thought I'd show this as an illustration as to how a reverse eye lowers the ride height for anybody who can't picture it. (it's not the one I removed in the above picture) Got the wishbones cut and the "original" cross-member removed.
New Crossmember in. More of this... ... and here they are. Once again my complete lack of mathematics bit me in the ass. (I'm sure an afternoon of beers didn't help, or maybe it did.) So I need more springs and longer shackles. Luckily I have the springs and can add onto my shackles. That's more like it. Now, to get the ride height height down. 5° pie cut equals a 5" drop, right? (math don't fail me now). Okay, that had to be luck. Gloria volunteered to be my "weight" to tack this in. (she ran in grabbed my doc's, haha) Next on to the rear. A 15" kickup should do it. Here's the frame all mocked up. Of course it's gonna get supports, gussets, boxing, etc. I mostly work alone so I welded in a chain to hoist the body. One use and I was thankful I did. Body on. It will set back about 6" once I get the trans tunnel cut and once it slides back it will drop a little and get a 2" channel so should end up 6" lower as well. Nice straight axel, haha.
Those shackles are no good, don't do it, you need a longer spring and that axle is far too bent. Axles are everywhere and cheap, please do the job right.
Like the build but would have to agree on the front end setup. Too much info. here on the HAMB to not get it right. Have to say. I would change the title spelling. I don't use that word even on the job site. Been in constuction 30 years.
I hope you realize that was "structural bondo". It's a good thing that you added new metal to replace it. Nice job so far, but the front end does need some help, but you did say it was a mock up. So does that mean thet you are going to bend the replacement axle? Good Luck!
I've been with this build from the start. It's nice to see it coming together. For the life of me I couldn't figure out the front susp set-up, I see I wasn't the only one.
Oh come on we all know your planning on using that front end set-up the way it is, you don't gotta lie to kick-it!
