I just torched the bottoms off the valves.
Pried the valves open and used a cut off
wheel and chopped the top of the valves
off. Then hammered the guide with the
remainder of the valve in and they just fall
    into the block.

    Hey Nads, what's shaking Man.
It's my first flathead, and yes it's
been tough so far and expect it
won't get any easier but right now,
    I'd take on another one.

You oughta' try and make it down for
a beer and BBQ sometime. I think you're
    only 45 minutes away, right?

  4. Whats wrong with the title:rolleyes: Here is a car from the late 50's in Stamford CT. Where do you think his driveshaft is?

So, Change of Plans. I was cruising Craigslist when I see my Pal Yaril (TylerDurben)
had a motor and trans for sale. A deal was made, he said his goodbyes and he saved
me a lot of time, and probably money too. It's a 50 ford flathead, runs sitting on the
pallete, best of all, Overdrive trans, woohoo!

  11. Don't take it apart unless you absolutely have to. There are a lot of good running flatheads (and other motors as well) that have cracks that have healed themselves. Once you disturb the relationships they are junk.

Good score on the flat head motor, much easier than fixing up your previous one!

    Been working on the wishbones.
A lot of heat, cutting, measuring, fabricating
and time working while sitting on the floor.

but the results were worth while...

Decided I wanted a day standing up, sipping on beer at the work bench.
Cleaning and rebuilding the steering box it is.

Cleaned all the junk off the outside.

Forgot after pics but everything cleaned up fine.

will a motor fit in it? once the motor and yourself are in will it drag its ass like a constipated dog?

I suppose. If the springs raise it about 7-8" the suspension will work.

The carb is still going to be in the gas tank though.

I like the idea. I'm not sure if he is teasing us or actually thinks that will work.

I'm still new to this myself. But my hours upon hours of researching and reading opinions and facts made me think long and hard about every little detail for my suspension and drivetrain. Maybe I'm missing something here.

Worthwhile ?? Sorry but I think you are delusional. I agree with the previous poster, maybe the springs arent in it and it will sit better with them

I liked the analogy earlier, once you and the engine are in it it might look like a constipated dog dragging it's ass, or a dog with worms dragging it's ass to relieve the itch :D

As it sits in this picture it just look rediculous.

She's sitting a bit low, but I really like the direction. It's looking bad ass.

not my car, not my ideas, but I'd like to see that body moved back over the rear axle.
and maybe some added to the wheelbase.

maybe a little benefit of the doubt since it is still in mock up mode? I like the collection of parts and ingenuity to use cast off parts!
