Using a Mustang II setup on my 56 F100. I had bought the the control arms new with bushings installed already from Speedway.

The nuts on the end of the shaft would loosen up after 50 miles. I have since put lock washers on there and that worked for a while, but whats the best way to keep them tight???

Double nut it with thin nuts ? I also picked up some all metal "squash" nuts. is that better? How tight should they be?

also, should i put a little grease between the nut and the big washer so that it rotates?

    Thanks

I would put some grease on them. The polly bushings turn on the shaft. The rubber bushings do not The rubber shears but the inside and outsides do not move or turn. You might want to replace with rubber as the rubber does not require any maintance. The upper bushinga can be directly replaced. The lower arm bushing is a special Speedway design and will require a new arm. No, they don't service the special bushing if you just want to put the same thing back in.

Never used that set-up before but the best way to prevent nuts from backing off is to safety wire them. It's a hole drilled through both nut and stud. Wire is then run through the hole. Wrap the ends around the nut, then twist tie the ends.
Easier is to try Nylok nuts.

Before I did that I'd use the Nyloc's or just drill and use cotter pins...although I'd first like to know why nobody else has the same problem!!!

It happened to me - I have Heights components on my car (48 Ford) and I was doing some maintenance and noticed that the nuts were loose. Blew my mind. Now I check them regularly. Try threadlocker.
