So we have a new motor and ****** ready to be put in but we are having trouble figuring out out to make the conversion work. How would you f100 guys convert your shifter from column to console or is there any way to leave it on the column? ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1410307886.935856.jpg

Your could buy an aftermarket floor shift system kit from someone like Lokar, which will contain what you need.
Or, you could try to adapt a floor shift automatic shifter from an older car, Mustang, for instance..but the shift lever will be too short for your truck.
Or, you could swap in a column from an automatic pickup, or car, from around the year model of your truck.

The worst case scenario would be to use the existing column shifter and only connect one of the levers to you transmission.....but THAT is NOT a good idea.
I only mention it to emphasize it is dangerous, in case a well meaning person suggests it. With that approach you would not have the desired shift 'gate' detents that prevent the lever from moving between, oh, say...drive and reverse for instance, no anything to keep it in Park, for example.

Get a junkyard ford pickup auto trans column....that's what I did with my 64 + 1( ok it's a 65 but the same body style as 64)....used to be 3 on the tree now auto on the tree!

You can use a shifter out of a ford Aerostar minivan. It's the old rear wheel drive one. Your all set for around ten bucks at the junk yard.long shift handle will work great in a truck and a cable shift,so you can mount it where you want
