I thought the idea of hotrodding was to IMPROVE performance....plus, your project would take WAY more time & $$$ than just waiting for your flattie to arrive. just be patient....

I just want some of what he is smoking. I can save it until I retire and don't have to wizz in bottles anymore.

I swapped one of those from one Jeep something into a Jeep pickup for a teacher when I was in high school. That thing had a top end of about 30 on the highway. I think it had six something gears in it though as it would climb a brick wall if the tires would hold.

  6. The way the junkies used to do it was get their kid to pee in a baggy and keep in in their armpit. So in theory you could smoke it today. ;)

This is just sick, on so many levels, if you want a flathead, get one, this is like them idiots that think their Chevy could be an Olds if they put Olds valve covers on it, what the **** has happened to keeping it real and stopping all this fake ****.

why not just ditch the motor completely and use a horse.

    Drugs are bad...okay?

  10. First off, allow me to correct you, it's now called "faux".

And I'd say it all went out the door with kit cars and everything reproduction.

Oh and "blank checks"! Let's not forget all those blank checks!

  11. When you figure out how then we can make an OHV conversion for it.

maybe get some wooden wheels too.

it's been done, look at the bottom of the post
So that would be a small block Chevy with flatheads - Yep that's some forward thinking
That's the only cost effective way to make an OHV in to a flat head, cuz you could sell those stupid Arduns ;) for more than the rest of the motor will be worth. :D

Not rare at all, Nick still makes em, and does them now for Fords as well.

These were done before, and just like Fake Olds Valve covers, Fake patina, Fake whatever, it will continue to be done for those that don't have the balls for the real thing.

  13. This one goes out to HR.....

The only thing a flatty was better for, was as the power plant for WWII torpedoes. They were compact enough to fit in them. Try that with a DOHC!

OK...I made a few sketches and I'm convinced my design can do the job, requiring only an absurd amount of professional core and casting time and money...
Now I realize this is a SIMPLE absurdity, almost ***********! Let's find a REAL challenge and make an OHV V8 into a T-head!

  19. Yeah - those flatheads are a real backwards step and should be replaced by an OHV.... I just don't know why anyone bothers with all that trad stuff..... Pastel coloured street rod anyone?

Oooooh...coooool. I need to go find another envelope, the L-head one doesn't have enough room left for a full set of blueprints!

Bruce! I think you are REALLY on to something here.....a breakthrough....

with the "T" head the exhaust valves (presumably) would be out board of the cylinder banks, therefore giving rise to the World's First DUHC Engine (Dual Under Head Cam...2 cams per cylinder bank).......driven by...oh, I don't know...maybe "V" belts or something..........no more exhaust p***ing through the water jackets....yeah........that's the ticket! Brilliant!
