My '56 Fairlane, 292 with the Ford-O-Matic transmission has developed a knock coming from the torque converter. Sound just like loose flex plate bolts, I.E: faster than engine speed. I can't see the flex to crank bolts. There is a fluid leak as well. What am I likely to run into and are there parts I can buy so I don't have to tie the car up. We only get 4 months of driving time and I don't want to miss a day! THANKS!!

  2. Maybe cracked flywheel? Either way, I'd definitely delve into it and it sounds like you have a front seal to change at the very least.

  3. Rusty at Northwest Transmissions should have anything you need. If you can't find his number or web I will look for it.

sounds like a cracked flexplate and a bad pump seal .
