  3. Make a scrap book of your work on this body. display it with the finished car so that people can really appreciate all of the intricate work that you did.

The chop looks like it's more work than the conversion from 4 door sedan into coupe. Nice workmanship for sure.

I appreciate it! Yeah it’s quite the eclectic shop. Mostly Porsche based stuff but a lot of other projects floating around.

Still have a bottom door skin I have to do on the drivers side. Not looking forward to that one. Can be tricky!

It has definitely been a lot more work than I thought. I didn’t realize that’s going with a lot heavier chop would be this involved.

As you can see the sun roof driver side (and passenger side) are not fluid when fitting the two tops together they didn’t mesh perfectly. I’m going back in to blend the two together. 0BC7DFE5-BBC8-4E97-8ECA-0B5FC54E523E.jpeg 4D6F4372-F5F8-4E7D-B441-249C75D6C968.jpeg 4D6F4372-F5F8-4E7D-B441-249C75D6C968.jpeg 9FA578CC-4392-4C69-BDD3-1F2E9B90499D.jpeg

  20. Thanks for the updates. As mentioned above, the pictures help reference others who may be doing rust repair, or panel replacement.

  23. WOW....Blending every little piece, and detail, is fantastic. Mine has some alignment issues, but pretty sure I won't ever address them, lol. If I was building from scratch like you, I would fix them. It's been like this for many many years. You have some great skills...

Thanks brother! I don’t know if I would call it skill but I’ll take it. Doing the best I can with the tools I have though. Im sure your car looks great! Sometimes it’s the unblended car that has all the charm.

Well I had to move out of the shop I was in. Luckily my dad had a good friend that was willing to let us keep the rod at his place and work on it there. Hot rodders are some of the best people you will find. Here you can see that I was able to get the sunroof straightened out enough I think it will work. Had to dump a lot of heat into that sliver. Luckily it planished out fine. 0E784E36-33A7-4C25-8D78-591BA23C9A9C.jpeg

Here you can see the staggered gap on the inside of the quarter window where the car was chopped. I had been brewing how I was going to tackle this problem for a while. The glass won’t fit flat against the quarter window obviously. A friend gave me the idea to do it this way and it worked out great. Unfortunately I don’t think it will work as well doing it to the front door windows. I think I will have to shape a piece and weld it in the front windows for the glass to sit flush. I also fitted the hinges on the trunk and installed it in the car. I was surprised at how well it fit. It will definitely take some fitting with a little push and shove but I think it’s gonna turn out nice. Will try and get pictures of that next time. Have a great day!

Really amazing work and skill showcased on this thread. Can't believe you were so brave to re-chop it, but wow it turned out nice. Did you fabricate the most recent cowl panels with a planishing hammer? Or do you still have access to the power hammer? Thank you for all the pictures, please keep up the good work!

Thank you! I made that piece just with a body hammer over a t dolly. I did planish the welds after it was welded in the car with a planishing hammer. I still need to do a one over over the entire car of just hammer and dolly work to pull out as many highs and lows as I can.

patch panel day. Cut out the door panel and the bottom section of the door, along with the lower door skin. Replaced with new door bottom. Was pretty rusty and had to do some minor repairs to the structure. 62A81B50-094C-4F9F-B8F0-F5B8271762B3.jpeg
I fashioned a temporary piece of wood to hold my pre existing door skin in place while I tacked on the new lower door skin
