This is how she turned out. Not too bad. Still needs a little love of course but I’m pleased with how it turned out. Also, I’ve been hunting for a quickchange for quite a while. Would love a halibrand 201 or at this point I would even settle for a rodsville. Also I have been hunting for the illusive 18 inch ford wide 5s for some years now. If anyone has any leads or can spare a few hot rod parts I could use some help tracking stuff down. I’m located in Utah. A little trickier to find parts around here. I’m headed to California this week though hoping to maybe meet up with some like minded people and find some parts. Thanks for the support!

I can tell this is a labor of love for you and your father. You have been at it for a long haul. I lived in Orem through the 80s and 90s there was a 33-34 four door and a two door sedan bodies along with a 36 coupe in a field I lived by, but I never could get in touch with the land owner, And one day I went by and it had all been cleaned out. Keep up the fine work. Mike

I've got a Halibrand V8, newer case, aluminum bells, steel tubes, finned cover. Has a diff inside and 4 lug axles (is currently in a mini stock chassis).

Wow Mike! Wish those bodies were still laying around. How cool you lived in Orem. That’s where I am. Thanks for the kind words!

here you can see the back bottom part of the door does not sit flush with the quarter panel. Most likely the quarter panel is off a tad is my guess. B83721C9-AC70-4A94-B7AA-ED423B8717E5.jpeg
It bugged me so I cut into the door frame and pulled it in so it will sit more flush. 2110D57D-423C-4955-8FC3-74E0EF061764.jpeg E10E3C79-D87D-45D3-A07D-5DA7C7A23691.jpeg Final result turned out pretty good!

Thank you! I agree. Sometimes things just nag at you until you fix them. Like a bad itch.

51DF1314-05C1-48C4-9B93-447D52D81CB3.jpeg I’ve been dreading fitting the trunk for a few years now. Decided to finally try and tackle it. I’ve been wrestling the trunk lid on the ground to get it to fit properly. It’s getting close. It’s tricky getting the hinges the right height and get everything tacked in place. As far as this gap goes its took some extra attention. I decided to weld in a small flanged strip of metal to make up the difference. 49BE485C-F156-443D-9275-5B54C3B20CF7.jpeg

That’s it for now. It’s close. Gonna take some fine tuning as always but getting closer.

  19. Anybody can tack on metal and beat it with a hammer, even me. It takes real skill to make it look like it came that way, flowing and aligning. You have great skills Hoover....

I appreciate it Bob! Just learning as I go. Definitely not perfect but I think it will do the job.

  22. I've worked with metal all my life, but forming metal to match compound curves, belt lines, etc is tough. I'm amazed by some of the craftsman i've followed on the HAMB. FlammedA-Bone( I think he goes by), for one.

this is the front of the driver side window. You can see how uneven the inner part of the window frame is. I had to make this flush with the other parts of the window for the glass to fit. Also because it looks horrible. 543E1C59-BAAC-41BE-BA33-9159CEBFE48F.jpeg
I cut a flat board out in the shape of the window to be able to tell if I am flush. Also you can see the small piece coming into shape to make up the difference. 2F3715CD-3ACE-43B1-8234-E742E21F5B66.jpeg 1CEBE4EA-9AF7-48BC-9A2E-C0BAE525A82C.jpeg

ready for a window now. Actually I still have to do the back of the window tomorrow. Thanks for looking!

Thank you, I appreciate the encouragement! I’m excited to get these windows finished up and then I can start tackling all the little small things that need to be buttoned up on the car. Next up it finishing the fit of the trunk.

Well, H-O-O-V... This is 267 posted reasons for me to buy a water cooled TiG welder!!!
Love the cool (opposite of HOT cool) tacks and beads throughout.
Mastery of this machine is illustrated in spades. Kudos to you! Say hi to your Dad. (I'm a senior too)

Haha thanks mike! I’ll tell him hello for you. Yeah I got the old Lincoln tig at a school district type surplus sale for a deal. Had to add the water cooler. That machine hasn’t missed a beat. And yes the inside of the car is just riddled with ground down welds. I actually like to see them because you can see how much work has been put into it. Appreciate the kind words!
