Rather than hijacking another thread, I'll start a new one.

I have an original 1955 Chevy 265 2GC carb and intake I plan on running on a future project. The carb has a hot air choke from the factory and I want to remove it and put a manual cable choke in its place.

I've searched for hours looking for a site that might show how it's done, but no luck....how did you guys do this?

In the old days you walked into the local auto parts store and asked for a 'manual choke conversion kit'; they came with all the necessary parts and a generic set of directions with pictures.

I have NO IDEA what is available now - I do know you can still get choke/throttle cables

Larry...instead of trying to convert the 2GC, you might consider just getting a 2G.

The parts you seek are on a truck somewhere in a junk yard waiting for you. That carb was used with a manual choke up to 327 engine sizes to give you a clue what to look for.

I found this one on the 'bay. Off of a truck as stated above. I searched for a month or so but I'm cheap and waited for a good price.:D

Get the whole carb. The link for the fast idle cam is larger in diam. than the auto choke link. Fortunately I did not throw away the link. I had a bunch of links but only one manual choke link. I was nervous for a while until I located it.

and they never worked worth a damn. At least not the ones I worked on.

The correct answer is "truck carb"
