Some of you might have seen this before, but I havent had a lot of time to work on my 32s lately because of my new Job, so I thought I would re-live my fun again here.
We are building a 32 truck for my Dad and we only had a good 34 cab, so one weekend after he went home, I decided to change it to be a 32 cab.

Here is the cab when I started.

I cut out the piece leaving a little section of the lower part of the bodyline
    [IMG]

I then made a crude tool to roll the lip over and give myself a flat area to weld to.

The truck was wider than 4 ft, so I left the corners out, it probably made it a little easier to form anyway.

A little bit of body work and My Dad has a 32 now.

    Finished product looks pretty good.

  3. Very cool! Did you think about cutting the belt line out that goes across the visor? Then it would be an early 32 pick up cab.

Yes I did think about that, I have an early roof that we were going to swap, but the 34 roof was a lot better shape, so we decided to just leave it.We did cut out the firewall and change the dash though.
We still arent finished, but we should be on the road by spring.

Incredible work... I can only dream to do such a job. However, wouldn't it actually be a '33 cab now? Methinks the '32 cab had a removable firewall & spot welds on the sides of the visor where the '33 & '34 has a screw. Alright, get to work!

You are absolutely right, we cut out the firewall and replaced it, and we welded the top of the window post area where it attaches to the roof and got rid of the screw.

Nice work! There are far too many 34's out there anyways. Leave the screw next to the visor. It will give the "by god" experts something to mull over.:D

  10. I think all 32-4s are cool period. But whatever flavor you like, is your choice. I have to hand it to you though you do damn good work.

I really like to leave the screw and seam. On a 32 cab when we weld the seam I always eventually get a hairline crack there. You are doing great work!

Great job...I agree with leaving in the screw as an anchor there. The roof is pretty much a bolt on part of a very flexy box, and tacking it with a weld in just two small places just can't survive well. The dash is another focal point for flex...usually cracked at ends from trying to ****ress the cowl.

These are the latest pics I have, but we have done a lot of work since this.
I have the whole month of Dec off work, so we hope to do a ton of work to the truck then and I will update the pics then.
Thanks for the kind words guys and it is a lot of fun and I get to spend a lot of quality time with my Dad.

We had some clearance problems with the Ford 6cyl so I ended up just making a flat firewall and bolting it in, it worked OK.

    Thats another story.
I put off working on Dads 32 for a few months and put together my 32 roadster to get ready for the big Deuce day show here in 2007.
I got it done a week before the show and we had a blast.

Well its been a long time coming, here is updated pics of the old guys 32.
We got the drive train done, brakes, steering and all the fun stuff.
Just finished wiring it yesterday and fired it up today, runs like a top.
Sprayed and installed the rad, grill, hood and fenders today, its starting to look like a truck.
This is a one of a kind pickup, Tinmann, check out the hood.

Where did you get the carriage bolts for the back of the cab? Are they the 1/4" bolts with the large heads?

The carriage bolts are 5/16 stainless steel and I think I got them at Home Depot, nothing special.
