I decided I'd had a gutsful of gennies and regs, and got an internal regulated alternator of the three wire variety. The three terminals are B, which I understand wires to the starter solenoid, L which wires to a dash light powered from the Acc post on the ign switch, and one marked R. The L and R are the push-on variety. Am I correct in ***uming the R terminal is wired to the Acc post on the ign switch? Also is there a better place to connect the B terminal to, other than the solenoid post?
they must do things different down there , up here GM internal regulated alternators have the battery terminal , and the two other " push on" terminals are marked 1 & 2 external regulated are marked R & F do you have a picture? edit: i see you never mentioned GM....what make alternator do you have?
I believe it's a jappa (!) off an 80's Mitsubishi. It was free, and it's been rebuilt. I know which of the push-ons is the light terminal, but I need to know where the other push-on gets wired to.
Get a "real" alternator and I can tell you how to wire it. We Yanks have a sour taste when Japan is mentioned.
Strangely enough, being a little colony, we dont have wrecking yards full of American cars, or ones that even have one or two American cars. We do however, have yards full of jappa ****ters. Same applies to parts stores. Not my fault, I'd love to have an abundance of American stuff here.
Go with the GM 1 wire & be done with it I have installed these on every thing from AMC to Volvo. no ? they just work!
Nominal.... once again you've come through for me! Thanks heaps, that's exactly what I wanted. Mebbe I need a direct line to ya!
