Folks Of Interest Conway Twitty's Riviera

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Richard D, Apr 23, 2010.

  1. I had a book years ago with pictures of Conway's Rivi. Does anyone have any photos? I did Google search and did find this, pretty cool.

  2. That's Leonard Nemoy. Conway had a proper rockabilly pompadore.

Who needs the Enterprise when you have a Rivi!!

  4. I know it's Leonard, I found that when I did the search. I just thought it was cool seeing Mr. Spock with a Rivi.

Conway had a Golden Hawk. A Stude club member in Arkansas has it now.

Bah! That's not a real Riviera. It's just a dang holodeck image!

  7. That fits. Conway isn't his first name--but, while driving through CONWAY County AR during the 50's(?), he took a liking to the name over his.

Conway County is by Yell county, just below Petit Jean Mountain.

Your geography and history lesson for today, now class is dismissed for burnouts.

  8. ......and Twitty wasn't his last name. That came from Twitty, Texas:)

Yep, we Arkansans are kinda proud of Harold Jenkins. I should point out that he actually took his name from the city of Conway, Ar, not the county- missed it by about 2 miles :D. ( I verified this through his website). As he was one of my favorite country singers, I'd love to see pics of some of his cars.

Conway and his wife drove AMC Pacers. No kidding. Guess it made him less conspicuous when out and about. Once when I was a kid, we were at Twitty City and he left his house in his. Drove by the nice garden he had there for visitors, and waved/said hello to us. The ladies were all agog. This was during the 'Slow Hand' period.
