It really is neat to be able to still drive across it. It’s not used for day to day traffic but still open for tourists to drive across.

  10. Great pictures, car fits right in.
The gas stations island canopy looks like it is made up of two hoods.

  16. Cool pics, neat rod.

Would that be the same Brush Creek that runs along the Plaza in KC?

I don’t really know but I doubt it.

  18. My mother’s side of the family comes from Baxter Springs. I spent a lot of time there in the summer as a kid!

Cool bridge! We stayed over there one of the last times we went to the hamb drags and explored a little bit as well. Brush creek in kc dumps into the blue river not sure how or if that connects to this

  21. No. The Brush Creek in Kansas City's Country Club Plaza originates just to the west in northern Johnson County, KS. Baxter Springs is a hell of a long way from here and Route 66 doesn't come anywhere near Kansas City. St. Louis, Springfield, Joplin, yes. Todd and Buzz missed out on great barbecue. They should have driven 40 Highway instead.

Route 40 goes from Cumberland Maryland to Vandalia Illinois 620 miles built between 1811-1837.
We have taken this road 15 yrs ago in the old 37. It’s actually a stage coach route with cool bridges and buildings along the way.

Those are cool. Especially that they are still in use.

    I did a burnout on that bridge about 30 years ago-my 69 Coronet R/T 440.
