I think I already posted this someplace in HAMB-land... an "edition" of PST S-10s I built for my brother n law's team. Only 6 in the world! Even Buddy Martin has one! Sure, I have had a few of them, but I seem to either loose them or give them away to friend's kids when I get too many. One small shelf is my limit! Later, Gary

Not Hot Wheels. But still cool. Slim

Hey Merry Christmas to all my HAMB buddies!

Should be worth $10-50 depending on condition & how bad a person wants/needs that one. the purple one is not really too rare. tell him to enjoy it & be gentle on it. if he gets it on the track it will likely outrun any of the new ones, the older ones are usually faster, better axles with the plastic bushings.

there is probably a father out there somewhere upset that his kid took an antique HW to school & lost it.

Hi Boyd.. The Rear Loader was From what Ive read a very short run. I dont even think it hit the store shelves.. they are very expensive if one can be found..

as far as the Purple Fleetside.. they are very cool.. I have one or two.. :) ..

Mckustoms.. The Bug is just to cool... and the diorama is very cool...

The old redlines got into the real cars... that why they are here.. my past to my future...:)..

Hawthorne was first, then Hong Kong was added; when I worked there in the '60s they were using both facilities. For the last many years the main Hot Wheels plant has been in Malaysia, with some models being produced in Thailand and Mainland China.

No rear loaders were ever sold to the public. That was the original design, and a pilot quantity of them was run. When it was found that they didn't perform well on track or with the supercharger, the tooling was changed to the side-loader design. The only rear loaders that have been in circulation were from the pilot run.

Yup! I knew the history of them. I had a collector friend in MO who had a green one in his collection.

My favorite redlines were the hot rods. It's probably what got me into cars in the first place, I was drawn to them like a moth to a light. These are some of the ones currently in my collection...

I'm not a collector, but I have a few that are actually my kid's from when he was little. I got this one on EBAY the other day. I had never seen it or heard of it before my friend sent me the link. -Kinda neat. I guess some of these are like a collector series or something and have a little better quality and nicer wheels and tires.

I use my tree as an excuse every year to display a VERY small portion of my collection of cars and trains (much more are in packages and containers). They aren't all nostalgic rods or anything, but I still think they are cool. I always questioned putting the convertables out in the "snow" but it is all in fun.

I used to buy 2 of each so I could play with one and keep one in the package. Now I just try not to look when I go past.

The guy who was in charge of Hot Wheels graphics roughly 2000-2005, miQ wilmOtt (that's how he spells it), had a thing for evil clowns and designed those. The marketing department was always kinda goosey about dark and non-PC themes, so they probably were called something else on the package, but Killer Clowns is exactly what they were intended to be.

he was probably a fan of the movie, one of my favorite B movies. one of the ones on the cars looks just like this guy. it's ironic that in the movie, the Terenzi brothers escaped in an icecream truck with a big clown head on it. :D[IMG] [IMG]

Hot wheels have been part of my life since I was 8 in 1968. It was a major deal at Christmas time and I still have most of the ones I got as a kid plus have added too over the years and may have around 200.

There will be a Hot Wheels track set up at the Nostalgic Show & Go! to run cars. We may even have a Hot Wheels race contest.
There will also be a model contest and I will be displaying several dozen vintage kits/boxes from the day. Should be fun for all ages.

Funny thing about Hot Wheels is they really haven't gone up much in 40+ years. I remember in '68 they were as cheap as 69 cents but other places had them for a buck. Of course, I am talkin' retail prices, not collector prices.

heres a shot of one case of my small collection..

The 2 cars i have that are the most well known are put up.. both are what i would call red stripes because of the wheels of course, but one is metallic blue with 2 engines and 2 seats side by side and the other is the t-bucket with the metel spike on top, i was told it was worth a little, i never checked though.. they are in the attic put up.. i think thier both around late 60's early 70's
i call the one with the spike on top the Nazi car cause i have 2 versions of it, the one with metal spike they origianly discontinued it cause of child safety then the next version didnt have the spike on it at all, then there was a third version that had a plastic helmet i was told.

i have heard the super hero series, hulk, spiderman, captain america and i believe wonder woman are worth a bit as a set.. and also the construction series.. i'm not sure though.

My 4 year old can destroy new hot wheels at an incredible rate. Good thing they are cheap. I have to slow him down a bit on the $5 dragster set out now....but hey, he can tell me the year and make of every car he snaps the wheels off of....you should see what he can do the 32 out in the shop. God help me when that thing gets paint on it. Kind of reminds me of the time my two girls decided to "wash" my 72 LT-1 vette with red scotch brite pads. Then again they're out there in the shop with their old man!
