Go to Radio Shack or any auto parts store and get an RCA to 1/8 plug adapter it hooks into the two plugs in the back of the unit I'll post some pictures here soon

Thanks justin. after I posted that that went thru my head. I bought the 2 channel what happens if you wire 2 speaker on 1 side and 2 to the other? I am just going to use this unit in my shop. Like someone else said you should get a kick back from all the sales here on the hamb.

  3. The infra-red receiver that is on the front panel or these gizmo's is usually mounted on the printed circuit board.
With a little patience you should be able to unsolder this and extend it's leads (it would be a 2 or 3 wire job), and mount this component in the dash. It would be no more than 1/4" diameter. Be careful as this component is polarity sensitive (get your wires into the right holes /right leads).

Well, I bought a radio off e-bay. Purchased the antenna connector and soldered it together as you described. Worked awesome. I rigged it up quickly in car and it worked as you described. Very cool and will make a great addition to listening to the exhaust note. Thanks

I am really glad this radio has worked so well for everybody! mine works great in my Newport... The only problem is that the speakers in the Newport suck! I also mounted one in my little pop-up camper and I love it

  7. I'm looking at getting one of these but was wondering where you guys found the 12v power supply?

  8. ....Is your car 12V? you can buy 6-12volt converters but check the current draw of the amplifier first, to work out if the converter can supply enough.

  9. Sorry I wasn't clear about that. My car is 12v. I was looking to find out where some of you guys found the plug that goes in the back for the power. They have that round connector with the positive on the inside and the negative on the outside (I think that is how they are) but most of the amps don't come with any wiring.

  10. Any electronics supply will have them, they are DC power plugs. Or you can scrounge one from the end of an AC plugpack.
They are USUALLY positive on the inside, and there are a few different sizes. They may look the same, but the inside pin is a different diameter.

    I like this!
here is what I did a while ago. info from a tech thread on here. iPod only
I use the factory knob to control volume. I should have bought a dual voice coil 8" speaker though. the little 4x6's work well, but not great. might install blockers. IMG_1151.JPG IMG_1383.JPG IMG_1393.JPG IMG_1394.JPG IMG_1688.JPG

  12. Thanks for the info guys. If the plug comes in different sizes I guess I'll get the unit first then find one.

Long, I did something similar with my stock radio. It has 1 6x9 in it and the volume knob now controls the fan motor.

Those little amps come with a 120-12 volt transformer. I don't see why you couldn't just cut the wire off, add a fuse holder, then wire it to a switched circuit.

  14. Just check that the output of the transformer or plug pack is DC.
If it's AC your little amp will make with the smoke signals.

Good thinking. My mini amp is 12 volt DC input.

I have done a search and can't seem to find out if these have a shuffle /mix all music feature operated by the remote.
Just don't really want to listen to music in the same order every time we are out cruising. Has any one had any experience with a similar little amp that has a shuffle feature operated by the remote?

  19. I mounted mine under the seat the use an iPod hooked up to the aux jack in the back of the unit. I can then run the stero with all the iPod functions with it sitting on the seat.

  20. The documentation is a little flimsy with these things. Press the "mode" button on the remote, if it has one, and watch the display. It may say something like "SA" for shuffle all. Or maybe the mode switches it from radio to SD card to USB drive. I don't remember how my similar LePai amp worked .

Well I'm about ready to order up a couple of the radios..I understand the 2ch/4ch [2 or 4 speakers] and am wondering if there is a balance or fader function in either? I couldn't see it in the specs or see in the pic of the remote..Thanks!

    Great thread

I'll be ordering a few of these; one for my 49 F1, one for my 68 Commando and another for my travel trailer.

    Thanks for the info

My 40 tudor doesn't have a radio, and I only miss it once in a while. I've read this thread and gave it some thought, but decided to go in another direction. My smart phone has over 2000 songs from the 50's-70's, which I what I listen to. And I really don't care for a fader or multi-channels ... doesn't really come through over the exhaust note. So I got a blue tooth speaker over which I can play the songs on my phone. I also installed a couple of power ports if I need to recharge either the phone or the speaker. I got a great deal on a small Bose speaker, but there are less expensive ones on the market. Plus I can take it into the garage, on the patio, or even in the house. Not necessarily the solution for everybody, but it works for me and is one more alternative.

I put a question into seller, don't have much faith in answer..There is a ma 120 which states 2 ch in title but then description says 4 ch but pic only shows 2! I suppose with a little help [hint!] in getting the right size dual Pot I could fix up to do balance..

Mine does have a balance, don't remember what is. I got mine from ebay thinking that some guy had a few to sell. When it came there was a big catalog . Parts Express 19377433000
