Inherited this old compressor from the guy who built my house back in the day. Just thought this little tag was badass....it says "WAR FINISH" And the tag:
in the late 70s i worked for BBB[bicknells better built] tool co.they started in the 1890s and the place was re-tooled in '40 using all US Goverment lathes, mills,shapers.trip hammers and up-setters for the blacksmith shop. all that equipment had brass 'war finish' tags and war finish contractor and tool #s one 24in swing lathe was set up for threading and taper,the ways were 24 ft long and there was a little door near the tailstock so we could turn really long boat shafts.the excess would turn away outside with just flagging tape for saftey.osha loved us.wicked old-school,chinese took the name and product line and trashed the factory.SAD SAD SAD.some of the men had worked for the bicknells their whole life
