  1. I have no room for it .....but I want it.

  2. That would be awesome! Thanks! I'll take all of it. We can meet up at Bonneville to do the exchange (weather permitting). If you need it picked up earlier than that I can probably arrange for someone to pick it all up in SoCal, just let me know.

We can work something out I’m sure. I’d like them out of my trailer but the new place I have for it I can barely get the door open. Maybe if you have some close here they could help. The block, cranks, and pan for sure. My custom one started as a Military.

  6. Anthony- do you use a silver shovel to dig this stuff up ? Light the spark.

  7. They pop up.
I guess I look for goofy stuff and the FB scientist developed algorithms that know the crap I like to look at.

I’m in central bama and this shows up from way up north. Plus there are some FB pages that odd stuff shows up on

  8. OK, let me look around for someone in SoCal with room for storage that will be going to Bonneville. Do you know Tim McMaster?

Well I bought the car - got it home late Sunday night. I'll start another thread when I get into it. It came with a ton of stuff and documentation to go with it. Lots of early 1950's Hot Rod magazines with the owners notes hand written inside. Build receipts from the "go to" guys in the 50's & 60's for hot rod parts. The car had a 12 port Wayne head at some point but it's long gone. Without measuring the motor could be a 340ci @ 10:1, I have a cam specs sheet he sent to Isky indicating so. Came with at least 20 Carburetors, various single barrel units. Offy intake, Fenton intake, Fenton dual exhaust manifolds. Built 40s Ford truck axle with quick change conversion and the disc brakes you can see. At least 2 McGurk cams - one looks unused. 3 - 302 heads, extra crank (rusty), set of extra piston\rods. 1 3 speed transmission, 1 gm 4 speed - no idea what he was running. Bunch of vintage dirt tract tires. On the same trip I picked up a 346 flat caddy, initial plan is to stuff the 346 into the coupe. Gonna take me some time to go through the absolute pile of parts that came with it, I'm sure some was original to the car, others are stuff the seller didnt recognize and sent it along. Some of the stuff I'm not gonna use will be for sale to fund the build but I'd like to keep it's race car feel but put it back on the street with doors that open and more than 1 seat, windows would be nice. More to come! -Jason

When you start a thread on the build, please post a link here so we can follow the journey.

Congratulations! I did the same thing about 30 years ago and bought a car that had been sitting in a field for years. Unlike you, I decided to go vintage racing. I restored the car and joined a local group. In the beginning, I had no idea of the background and history of the car. In the course of going to vintage races in Minnesota and Iowa, I happened to race at the cars original home track. One of the original builders great-nephews was there and positively identified the car. He made a call and I stayed a bit longer, and another grandson brought the surviving brother of the original builder to see the car. It turned out to be quite a famous car in the area and had been Minnesota State Stock Car Champion in 1966. Subsequently, I have been able to obtain a 3 inch folder of documentation for the car, including photos, race result sheets, a model of the car, and various other ephemera related to it. Hopefully, when you get it back in the public eye, something like this may occur.

Congratulations again on your purchase, and good luck with your endeavor; it sounds like the car is in good hands.

Here's a little encouragement for you.

So 18 months later here is how the car sits. Cadillac 346 flathead, Caddy 3 speed transmission, Ford 3/4 floater rear with quick change mod, Model A front suspension. Just got the body back on the frame last night. Needs steering hooked up, shifter & linkage, and throttle linkage and we'll be running it at the Pine Tree Jamboree Sept 13-15. You can see progress from the beginning here 20230914_223604.jpg 20230914_223901.jpg 20240709_163950.jpg 20240722_224954.jpg 20240725_195600.jpg

Which make is the quick change? Hiland (Hyland?) Machine by chance? I remember the one in Tommy Gage's 05 coupe survived the otherwise total destruction of the car. And was it heavy...

Looks really good. Were you able to get a passenger side door for it?

    Yup Highland Machine, Springfield Mass

No - Coupe doors are made of unobtanium, I ended up buying a 4 door sedan for parts that had good doors. The body lines line up perfectly but they are 2" wider than the coupe doors, so I stretched the car 2". Added bonus more leg room for those of us 6'+ 20230723_101859.jpg 20230730_103104.jpg 20230821_205311.jpg 20240728_104448.jpg .

I got to learn how to spell! Highland! Both of my guesses were crap!

And remember to tighten up the engine mount bolts. That's what I forgot to do, and it destroyed everything but the quick change.
