I have always liked double exposure photos. That was one of the first manual custom things we could do with our old film cameras. It wasn’t an ordinary thing, as it took time and giving up consecutive action from the models or people. But, sometimes, the film was wound back a frame or two and another scene was shot. That created a true 35mm film camera double exposure back then.

Then, in the processing section, what ever came out on the developed film was the true double exposure shot. Yes, there were a lot of errors and mistakes, but sometimes during developing film, a double exposure shot pops up and creates a wonderful memory.

Watching many short films edited for categories and groups, one never knows what pops up on the computer screen, these days. Because of our modern photo editing devices and programs, the digital accuracy goes just a step beyond for unusual results. Back in the early movie film taking days and the 35mm film camera days, one always wanted special effects, like the Hollywood movies.

Taking movies was a point and shoot with what cameras were available. The introductory image was an up close race of a 57 Chevy vs. a 59 Corvette. The previous race was that elimination race. But, that image in the movie film ran into the standard wide angle view of the Orange, Lions Dragstrip Tower and White, Dilday Ambulance. When watching the film at normal speed, the effect goes by too quickly for the eye to see. The current digital imaging allows us to capture these odd images frame by frame for a different look to our photography.

Old film cameras created the same type of images by reverse winding the film back a notch or two, then re-shooting. Time consuming, experimental and sometimes the image situation is lost at a moment’s notice. But, sometimes a cl***y photo pops up after getting the color Ektachrome slide film developed. The 35mm film experiment was completed!

These days, digital imaging creates a whole new way to look at photographs.
