We heard about a '34 chevy three window "with a rumble seat and a flathead v-8" from a guy who knows just enough to be dangerous. So we werr excited to see what was there. Well it appears to be a '33 dodge or plymouth coupe.
Anyone out there with a shovel and a strong back that will work for beer? We want to see what it looks like under the dirt, so we're gonna dig 'er out. :)

Man, That's amazing that a car could sink into the ground so deep.

I live in Michigan and I've never seen that before.

Its on the edge of a creek, and the side of a field, so it kind of "drifted" in rather than sank. With the tall grass and the angle its on make it look like its really planted, but its not quite as bad as it looks.

Its amazing to me the climate you Minnesotians? have....
The steel just sets in the open for decades.
My 37 was from Minn. In the grass just as high. The floor pan could be wirebrush off to remove the surface rust. No holes whatsoever.
    Cool find!

Very cool, progress pics would be cool, maybe one showing the miners helmet and shovel. You think there's wheels, driveline etc. under there?

I was surprised too. It has the grill shell/insert all fenders, headlights, windsheild frame, garnish moldings, decklid, and dash, I just wonder if there is a frame under there somewhere.

Are you gonna keep it? Or just dig it? If I lived closer to you I would definatley be interested in shoveling for a few parts of of it and some beer! Good luck and keep us posted. Thanks

maybe we could even work out a trade, say, that elusive wide 5 rim youve been dreaming of! ;)

  19. Hey, that thing is restorable...hopefully its a roller when you dig it out.

How much did you or are you getting it for?

Replace the panels and run the thing...I would....shoot...its a 5 window. :)

I found a 50 Ford convertable body in an old wrecking yard. It looked like the back half was sunk in the ground. But it wasn't, the bottom half was rusted completely away. Frame and all!

    cool!

sad thing is. most of what is actually in the dirt is gonna be gone gone gone, unless the ground up round fargo/moorehead is different than the dirt down round rochester.

jason455 dug a 29 dodge 5w coupe outta the dirt a few weeks ago and wasnt able to keep it, so i inherited the thing. not a hell of a lot left where the dirt line was.

let us know how ya make out

  26. I don't know nuthin' about farming, but maybe Duck or another chemist would probably know what kinds of fertilizers that might have been used in the past 80 years would be corrosive to metal. If the land around it was never fertilized, it might be OK.

This coupe is on the North Dakota side, about 40 miles outside of Fargo. The soil around here can be weird. I've jacked things out of the mud that have been there for 30 years, and it was still solid, but I've never dealt with anything thats been in this long. My '39 came from the Minnesota side, and anything that touched the ground got ate up like acid. My dad and I have a bet going, I say it will be solid down to about the door bottoms/floor boards before it gets bad, hes says that about 2" down, it will turn from body to a rust-colored line in the dirt, we shall see I guess. I'll try to get my back-ho
(younger brother) up there to do some testing. Will post picks if we do.

Please dig it out, I can't wait to see what's underneath.
    The top looks solid enough.
Those are great pictures too, you oughta submit them to
Hemming's Abandoned Cars or send 'em into a magazine.

    Very cool stuff.

Actually, the guy the puts the Hemming's Abandoned Cars page together is a member here, and contacted me for permission to use them. I said no problem. I should have held out for a free subscription.
