Just got back from a fall motorcycle trip thru the Smokey Mountains. Ran across this old car retaining wall. Can't remember exactly, but I believe it's on Rt. 19 crossing the E. Tennessee River. Not exactly the best use for old iron....

It is between Bryson City and Cherokee NC there are more sites like this all along that stretch. Ihave studied that spot many times and you can see a 57 chevy there.

  9. Lots of history here . 1966 427 roadster in street form as most of these hit the road as competion models. Very few street cars produced. 3 left over 1965 GT-350s in the background probably waithing the conversion to carryover cars. Then there is that big concrete thing to the right called the blast-wall. Little was it known that this was the location for the fiberglass manufacturing. A cat by the name of "Tweety" was inside of there laying the glass for the Shelby's. The fumes were so bad in the shop they moved the glass work out there because the other workers thought he was going to blow them up. Also when the 427 engines started coming from Ford and Holman-Moody they hid them inside of the blast wall. Sure would have been cool to stumble across a couple of those engines. Oh yeah look at that stack of blue-dot goodyears !! NOS tires sell for about $2500.00 a piece today. Oh yes There's even a NASH METRO >>>>.

Check these out. . .started life as a '46 or '47 Chevrolet Coupe, cut-down '50s MG or Triumph style with Old's motor, swiss cheese drilled frame (to lighten, I suppose) homemade trans adaptor, etc. Really old skool that would be kind of different if someone's looking for a project, it's for sale in Iowa!!

This picture, I think, might have been around the USGP at Riverside in 1960. There's another great picture around (sorry, I don't have it) of Stirling Moss, driving Rob Walker's F1 Lotus in civilian traffic in Riverside.

Not sure why these F1 pilots were driving their race cars on the road that weekend... but I love it!

The house is over 200 years old and is said to be hunted but I had to take a pics of it with the coupe. Some old corn bends.
